Shiler Valley Saga (1987) - (Reza Agharabi) Iranian one-sheet

This is a 27.5" x 39.5" Iranian poster designed by Heddat for the 1987 Ahmad Hassani Moghaddam film Shiler Valley Saga AKA hemase-ye darre-ye shiler written by Majid Emami and starring Reza Agharabi. Plot summary: Rahim is expelled from the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). He steals a minibus, goes to Kordestan and is intercepted and forcibly detained by a branch of the Kurdish Democratic Party of Iran headed by Hessam Khan. The party is bringing arms and ammunition in from Iraq. The IRGC learns about this and sends someone with the assumed name Nasser to get more information. The Kurds identify Nasser and kill him. Hessam Khan is also killed by a villager. Rahim's real identity becomes known when he goes to Iraq to get ammunition. To prove his innocence he goes to IRGC headquarters and volunteers for a suicide mission. Clashes begin with the Kurdish Democrats and the IRGC forces win.

This is a 27" x 37.5" Iranian poster for the 1988 Rakhshan Banietemad film Canary Yellow written by Bahman Zarrinpour and starring Mehdi Hashemi. Plot summary: A young small-town shoemaker named Nasrollah Madadi [Mehdi Hashemi] sells his share of a cobbler shop to buy a piece of farmland. The owner of the land promised to him lives in Tehran and has sold it to someone else with a fake deed. When Nasrollah realizes the Tehran buyers are now working the land he goes to Tehran with his wife and children to pursue the case and stays at his father's home, but this goes nowhere. His brother-in-law Aqa Kamal, a dealer in second-hand goods, has set another trap for him: the sale of a Peykan automobile named Canary Yellow which has been sold and stolen many times. Nasrollah does not want to go back home. He wants to take a trip in Canary Yellow, but Kamal Aqa opposes this because he is afraid the former owner will see it and complain. They finally steal Canary Yellow from him.

Unaware of these things, Nasser conducts a devastating one-man bombing raid on the Iraqi base that is expecting him to land and surrender his aircraft.

Plot summary: Narges is solely responsible for caring for her three children. Her husband Amir [Hushang Tavakoli] is released from prison after serving a four-year term for drug addiction. At first Narges does not accept him but she gives him another chance because her children care for him. Amir is not able to find a job. Amir is indebted to Khosro Khan, the leader of a network of narcotics distributors and smugglers. Khosro Khan tries to pressure Amir to get him to work for him, but Amir says he wants to belong to himself. Amir plans to sell the house to pay off his debt, but his wife and children oppose this; he has a change of heart, takes a stand against Khosro Khan and returns to the embrace of his family.

This is a 27.5" x 39" Iranian poster for the 1990 Mohamad Reza Aalami film Love and Death written by Mohamad Reza Aalami and Tahmineh Milani and starring Jamshid Hashempur as Dr. Manoochehr Matin. Plot summary: In the years before the revolution Dr. Matin was initially a combatant students, but due to plotting by his father-in-law, who was one of the heads of SAVAK, he betrayed his fellow combatants and thereby became prosperous. His wife and her family went abroad after the revolution. To compensate for the past Matin gave all his assets to a hospital while he worked full time at another government hospital. One of his assistants named Afsaneh Parsi, [Sorayya Golmohammadi] who was also a nurse, fell in love with him. The nurse's fiancee Afshin Rahgozar [Changiz Vossoughi] saw this relationship as a betrayal. After numerous clashes between Afshin and Matin, one day the hospital was bombed by the Iraqis and Afsaneh was seriously injured. Dr. Matin tried to save her but could not do so. When Afshin saw Matin's human relationship with Afsaneh he saw his own mistake. Then Afsaneh's vital signs miraculously returned!

This is a 27" x 38.5" Iranian poster for the 1987 film The Convicts written and directed by Naser Mohammadi and starring Enayat Bakhshi. Plot summary: In the heat of the revolution several security agents kidnapped the son of a jeweler with the intent of extortion and then released him after taking a large amount of jewels. Two of the kidnappers named Abbas and Parviz deceived their accomplices and fled with the jewels. They had decided to leave the country with the help of one of their accomplices named Hassan. Abbas and Parviz were both injured in a fight and Abbas fled into the northern forests with the jewels and passports. He had been severely wounded and fell unconscious in the forest. A blind old man took him to his home and cared for him. The old man's wife was suspicious of Abbas. Through her brother Hossein'ali she informed committee agents. Abbas and following him Hassan and Parviz were then arrested.

This is a 27.25" x 37.5" Iranian poster designed by Bateni for the 1986 film Fusillade AKA Teer Baran written and directed by Ali Asghar Shadravan and starring Majid Majidi. Plot summary: This is the story of the life and death of anti-monarchist revolutionary Sayed Ali Andarzgoo. In Bahman 1343 [21 January - 19 February 1964] Mohammad Andarzgoo and several other people waited in front of the Majles building for Hassan'ali Masour to arrive in his chauffeured black limosine; when he arrived they assassinated him. Agents did much investigation and finally arrested and executed all the perpetrators with the exception of Sayed Ali Andarzgoo. SAVAK agents kept looking for Andarzgoo because they considered him one of the main planners of the assassination, but he eluded arrest several times, moving with his family from one place to another. Finally SAVAK agents found where he was living and killed him in a street shootout.

She leaves home in anger, goes home to her parents and falsely tells her father Abbas Safarian [Jamshid Mashayekhi] that Majid struck her. Majid has also come up 20000 tumans short in his cash drawer at the bank; then he has an accident driving home.

Plot summary: Late in the month of Mehr 1359 [23 Septmber - 22 October 1980] when the city of Khorramshahr is in danger of falling a group of revolutionary guards commanded by Morteza is sent from Tehran to help the city's combatants. Since the roads in the vicinity are held by the Iraqis, they are planning to take a helicopter from Mahshahr to Khorramshahr but they are unable to get one so Morteza moves his battalion across the Persian Gulf in a launch. The battalion arrives in Khorramshahr a day after it has fallen. According to plan Morteza and two of the remaining combatants from Khorramshahr cross the Karun River in a small boat; they prepare the necessary intelligence for striking the Iraqis by penetrating enemy positions and making a map of enemy fortifications in Khorramshahr. The Iraqis become aware of their presence so they have to go back. In a night engagement Morteza's companions are killed and he must take them back arcoss the Karun in the same small boat.

This is a 27.5" x 39" Iranian poster designed by Bateni for the 1978 Samuel Khachikian film Shark of the South AKA Koose-ye Jonoob written by Amir Ghavidel and Bahman Zarrinpour and starring Iraj Ghaderi as Akbar. Plot summary: Akbar, Nader, Abbas and Reza, who have been good friends since childhood, all want to achieve an aspiration. Abbas and Nader are wearing uniforms, Akbar joins his uncle's smuggling gang and Reza, who is paralyzed, does not wish for anything other than to continue his friendship with the other three. Reza's sister Masoumeh and Akbar have been interested in each other since they were children. Akbar gains credibility among the members of the smuggling group and gets the nickname Shark. While transporting a shipment of smuggled goods Akbar kills a gendarme and goes to Abbas's house wounded. Abbas turns him over to the police and he is sentenced to death in court. Masoumeh visits Akbar and becomes engaged to him. Before the execution she asks that Nader serve as one of the excecutioners.

This is a 26.5" x 39" Iranian poster designed by Bateni for the 1987 film Panic written and directed by Shahriar Bahrani and starring Jafar Dehghan as Ibrahim. The story is set in the time of the Iran-Iraq war. Plot summary: The officials at the Saudi embassy give a briefcase containing confidential documents to enemy domestic agents for transport across the frontier. The briefcase falls into the hands of the police and after they break the code it becomes clear the enemy intends to bomb a border village with chemicals. A reconnaissance team is sent to Kordestan to find out what is happening, but the village is bombed anyway and a large number of its residents are killed. Enemy soldiers arrive in gas masks and clash with the reconnaissance team. Reinforcements arrive and the enemy are annihilated.

The story is a costume drama set in southwestern Iran in the 1920s; the film won the award for best screenplay, best sound mix and best music and was nominated for best film at the 1987 Fajr Film Festival in Tehran. Plot summary: The body of an Englishman killed with a scythe is found laying across some oil pipes in the Bakhtiari tribal area. Kuhyar, [Ali Reza Shoja-Nuri] son of clan chief Aliyar [Ali Nassirian] and Khodamorad, [Ali Farhadi] a maker of stone lions, find the corpse and bury it. An agent named Ameri [Valiollah Shirandami] is sent to the area to investigate the murder and arrest the killer. He is guided by a British diplomat and thinks Kuhyar is the murderer. There is a dispute between him and Namdar Khan, [Ezzatolah Entezami] who is related to Aliyar and the chief of another clan. Just as the diplomat wants, their argument leads to an unwanted war and the death of Aliyar, the British diplomat the deaths of government soldiers and the killing of Ameri.

This is a 13.75" x 19" Iranian poster designed by Heddat for the 1985 Kamran Ghadakchian film Whirlwind written by Alireza Davoudnejad and starring Faramarz Gharibian. Plot summary: The Americans blow up the nuclear waste buried in a village in Khorasan and the cows there are also killed. The radiation from the explosion cause a young herder to become afflicted with a serious disease and his cows also die. Abdullah and his brother's wife, also from the village, leave the area because they are afraid of getting the same disease. Abdullah takes his brother to a hospital in the capital with help from one of the people of his province. A combat physician reports the situation to the head of the hospital. The Security Organization and the Americans, who are afraid of publicity, decide to take the young herder abroad or eliminate him. The combat physician gets word of this and with the help of Abdullah and his friend from the province they kidnap the patient at the hospital and treat him. Security Organization agents pursue them and kill Abdullah's friend from the province and his brother. Abdullah is angered and smashes the windows of the leader of the American group's automobile.
