A Man for all Seasons (1966) - (Paul Scofield) US AA one-sheet

This is a 27" x 41" US AA one-sheet for the 1966 Fred Zinneman film A Man for all Seasons based on play and screeenplay by Robert Bolt and starring Paul Scofield as Thomas More. The film won six academy awards and with sales of $28,350,000 was the fifth highest-grossing film in the US in 1966. Plot summary: In 1529 as a member of the Privy Council, Sir Thomas More refuses to go along with Cardinal Wolsey [Orson Welles], Lord Chancellor of England, in asking Pope Clement VII to annul King Henry VIII's [Robert Shaw] marriage to Catherine of Aragon; later, after becoming Lord Chancellor himself, Thomas More resigns rather than take an oath of supremacy declaring Henry VIII supreme head of the Church of England. The king wants his marriage anulled because Catherine is barren; he wishes to marry Anne Boleyn [Vanessa Redgrave] so there will be an heir to throne. More is imprisoned in the Tower of London for his refusal to take the oath. This was John Hurt's film debut, in the role of Richard Rich.

Alfred the Great (1969) - (David Hemmings) Danish one-sheet

This is a 23" x 34" Danish poster designed by K. Wenzel to promote the 1969 Clive Donner film Alfred the Great starring David Hemmings as Alfred, based on story by James R. Webb and screenplay by Ken Taylor. Plot summary: In 9th Century England the Danes were marauding and ransacking the country, so Alfred abandons plans to become a priest and leads the Christians in defense of the country. The Danes are defeated and Alfred becomes a hero, but now his passion for God has become tainted with a lust for blood.

This is a US 40x60 poster designed to promote the 1976 Blake Edwards film The Pink Panther Strikes Again based on a screenplay by Frank Waldman and Blake Edwards and starring Peter Sellers. Plot summary: Charles Dreyfus [Herbert Lom] has escaped from a mental asylum with a firm resolve to kill Inspector Jacques Clouseau [Peter Sellers]. When he is unable to do this he builds a doomsday machine and threatens to wipe out entire cities and countries with it unless someone kills Clouseau. Clouseau finds himself being pursued by 22 assassins and decides it is time to find Dreyfus to put him back in the mental asylum.
