This is a 29" x 43" Argentine one-sheet poster for the 1951 Gordon Douglas film Only the Valiant AKA Fort Invincible based on the 1943 Charles Marquis Warren novel Only the Valiant with screenplay by Edmund H. North and Harry Brown and starring Gregory Peck as Captain Richard Lance. Plot summary: After the American Civil War a fort is built outside a mountain pass in New Mexico Territory to interdict maruauding Apaches. The Apaches cut off the fort's water supply and then attack after it becomes weak and debilitated. Shortly thereafter Captain Lance arrives with a patrol and captures Tuscos [Michael Ansara], the charismatic Apache leader. His scout [Jeff Corey] advises him to kill Tuscos, but Lance refuses to shoot a prisoner. Back at Fort Winston, Lance assigns an officer to lead a patrol escorting Tuscos to Fort Grant; Apaches attack the escort and Tuscos escapes. Captain Lance leads a patrol of those he considers to be Fort Winston's most expendable soldiers, back to what is left of Fort Invincible to fight off avenging Apaches pending arrival of a relief column. The outnumbered misfits in this tiny patrol see it as a suicide mission, but they know Lance's leadership is their only hope of survival.

This is a 27" x 40" double-sided US one-sheet for a 1985 rerelease of the 1961 Clyde Gernomi and Hamilton Luske Walt Disney film 101 Dalmatians based on the 1956 Dodie Smith novel of the same title, story by Bill Peet and starring Rod Taylor as the Voice of Pongo. Plot summary: Roger Radcliffe [Ben Wright] is a bachelor living in London with his wife Anita [Lisa Davis] and his two dalmatians Pongo and Perdita [Cate Bauer]. Cruella De Vil [Betty Lou Gerson], one of Anita's former classmates, visits them right after Perdita gives birth to a litter of 15 and offers to buy them all, but Roger declines. Cruella wants the pups very badly so she can make fur coats from their hides so she hires two thieves to steal them. Scotland Yard is unable to locate the missing pups, but some animal friends are able to find them along with 84 other dalmatian pups Cruella has also stolen.

Tex and The Lord of the Deep (1985) - (Giuliano Gemma) Egyptian one-sheet

This film directed by Duccio Tessari original Italian title Tex Willer e il signore degli abissi is an interpretation of the adventures of the hero Tex from the comic strip by Bonelli. It is a spaghetti western fantasy that blends magic and mythology with six-guns and stagecoaches. By the time this film was released the spaghetti western had gone into decline and this film, although fascinating, received only a TV release in Italy. The film's star Giuliano Gemma was 47 at the time and he continued making films for another 22 years until 2007. This Egyptian poster was designed by Ahmed Fouad, following closely the design of the Italian one-sheet. The Arabic text in red says "Tex the Avenger"; the black text above that says Giuilano Gemma, then above that in smaller black print it gives the name of the Egyptian Distributor, Aflam al-Salam, 19 Abdel Khaleq Sarwat Street.

Plot summary: Shao Ba is an errand boy working for gangsters in a small village, who is constantly the object of bullying and abuse. He falls hopelessly in love with Kam Yin-Fei [Ho Hwa], the daughter of noodle merchant [Ging-Shun Mau]. Unlike Shao Ba, the girl has an excellent command of the martial arts and rejects him. Shao Ba studies his boss's technique and improves his proficiency so he can win her favor. After he beats up a gang of thugs in the marketplace, Kam Yin-Fei tells Shao Ba that his boss and teacher is a crook; he is ultimately obliged to admit it.

The theme is that for Carol, lovely as she is, human sexuality is repulsive. This was Polanski's first English language film and also the first of three Polanski films known as the "Apartment Trilogy," followed by Rosemary's Baby and The Tenant.

This is a 14" x 21.25" Belgian hand litho film poster using a design by Joseph Smith for the 1956 Virgil Vogel film The Mole People starring John Agar as Dr. Roger Bentley. Plot summary: Deep in the earth high on a mountain in Mesopotamia lives a race of Sumerian albinos in a huge underground city, who keep mutant humanoid mole men as slaves growing mushrooms for them. The ancestors of this albino race moved underground in ancient times to escape floods. When archaeologists Dr. Roger Bentley and Dr. Jud Bellamin [Hugh Beaumont] inadvertently find the city, led to the site by a piece of statuary that was part of an earthquake landslide, they discover that both the albinos and their mutant slaves are weakened by the light of a flashlight as a result of having lived underground for such a long time. According to Wikipedia the film contains a number of incorrect representations of Sumerian, Babylonian and Egyptian history, especially in its images of ancient civilizations and gods.

This is a 27" x 41" US one-sheet poster for the 1982 Costa-Gavras film Missing based on the 1978 Thomas Hauser book The Execution of Charles Horman: An American Sacrifice with screenplay by Costa-Gavras and Donald Stewart and starring Jack Lemmon as Edmund Horman. Plot summary: The story is based on actual events during the 1973 military coup d'etat in Chile ousting President Salvador Allende when journalist Charles Horman [John Shea] was killed, and afterwards when Charles's Father Edmund Horman goes to Chile with his son's wife Beth [Sissy Spacek] to look for his missing son. This film was banned in Chile during Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship and both the film and Thomas Hauser's book were the subject of a defamation of character lawsuit by former US Ambassador Nathaniel Davis; the lawsuit did not succeed, leading to the film's rerelease in 2006. The film won an academy award for best writing of a screenplay based on another medium. It also won the Palm d'Or at the 1982 Cannes Film Festival, and Jack Lemmon won the prize there for best actor.
