Plot summary: Roger Sartet is a gangster and hitman who is released from prison through the efforts of another mobster named Vittorio Manalese [Jean Gabin] so he can hijack a passenger aircraft. After the hijack, Sartet betrays Manalese by seducing his daughter.

Pierre Augagneur. Plot summary: In 1943 in Tunisia a French Foreign Legion battalion is ambushed by the Germans while transporting a shipment of gold bars.
