Until Sunset (1988) - (Saeed Poursamimi) Style A Iranian one-sheet

This is a 23.5" x 39" Iranian poster designed by Manouchehr Abdollahzadeh for the 1988 film Until Sunset based on the 1886 story "How Much Land Does a Man Need?" by Leo Tolstoy, screenplay by Jafar Vali and starring Saeed Poursamimi. Plot summary: Zabih is an ill-tempered man who lives in a village with his wife. He usually solves family problems with the mayor's help. Zabih is promised he can have as much land as he can mark off from sunrise until sunset. He assiduously works on this but at the end of the day he falls off a hill and dies from exhaustion.

This is a 24.5" x 36.5" poster designed by Manochehr Abdollahzadeh for the 1988 Mohammad Ali Sajjadi film Like Wind written by Hossein Jaffarian and Mohammad Ali Sajjadi and starring Hossein Kazbian. Plot summary: After finishing school and saving his wages working in a factory, Morteza wants to get a bicycle. His father Rahim, who is opposed to his son working, advises him to study next year's lessons. However Aqabozorg, Rahim's father, is in favor of Morteza working. The mother also more or less supports the son and finds him a job at a press factory. Following an argument with his son Rahim, Aqabozorg leaves home in anger. He is a calligrapher trying to reconstruct an old inscription with his friend Aqanazir. Because of his age Aqanazir falls off some scaffolding and dies. Aqanazir's relatives blame Aqabozorg for his death. Aqabozorg is distressed and goes into hiding. Morteza, who likes Aqabozorg, goes looking for him with one of his colleagues named Abdollah. Aqabozorg gets his leg broken in an automobile accident. Rahim, who cannot pay the hospital costs, sees his son paying for Aqabozorg's treatment. After his release from the hospital Aqabozorg sells one of his costly possessions and buys Morteza a bicycle.

The Maritime Silk Road [راه آبی ابریشم rah-e abi-ye abrisham] (2011) - (Bahram Radan) Iranian one-sheet poster

Pictured is a 26.75" x 38.5" Iranian poster designed by Behruz Khorshidi to promote the 2011 Mohammad Bozorgnia film The Maritime Silk Road [راه آبی ابریشم] starring Bahram Radan based on a story by Mohammad Bozorgnia with cinematography by Bahram Badakhshani. Plot summary: This historical drama is about the first crossing of the Indian Ocean to China on a route which came to be called the Maritime Silk Road. Two ships undertook the voyage through the Persian Gulf from Iran, one under Captain Soleiman [Dariush Arjmand] and another under Captain Idris [Reza Kianian]. The story is based on an account of the voyage written by a passenger on Soleiman's ship named Shazan ibn Yusuf [Bahram Radan] in 11 BC.
