and Leila Larijani and starring Siamak Ansari. Plot summary: The film
recounts in three episodes the experiences of three women from
different social classes in Tehran as they suffer for the sake of the
men they love. Sponsored by UNESCO "in praise of the women of Iran."
It was Tina Pakravan's first feature-length film.
This is a 19" x 27" Iranian poster for the 1988 film Burning
Pines written and directed by Abbas Sheikhbabai and starring Bijan
Emkanian. Plot summary: Seven families are living a miserable life in
an old home known as The Wasteland. Their only pleasure is amusing
themselves every night with a TV belonging to Mohammad, who is a page
at the Laleh Theater. The TV is stolen one day. Mansour, the brother
of Mohammad and Haj Amu, the owner of the house, suspects the renters
and searches all the rooms in The Wasteland. He does not find
anything until it becomes clear that the thief is none other than the
owner of the television.

This is a 26.5" x 37.75" Iranian poster designed by Bateni to promote
the 1999 Kamal Tabrizi film Sheida starring Leila Hatami based
on a story by Reza Maghsoodi with cinematography by Mohammad
Aladpoush. Plot summary: When Farhad [Parsa Pirouzfar] was wounded in
the war he temporarily lost his sight and was transferred to a field
hospital. A nurse there named Sheida [Leila Hatami] was impressed by
his determination to recover and found she was able to comfort him by
reading to him from the Koran. The two became emotionally attached to
each other but were separated when Farhad was released from the
hospital. Farhad went back to the front looking for Sheida, but the
war ended and this made the search difficult. Farhad's father and
mother insisted that he become engaged to a wealthy girl who was
thinking of leaving Iran. When it became clear that an old war wound
was threatening Farhad's health his fiance broke their engagement and
left the country. Farhad was hospitalized at a hospital where Sheida
was working, but he did not see her. Then upon the insistence of
Farhad's mother Sheida read the Koran to him again and with the
help of love she was able to restore his health.
