Plot summary: In 1845 Phoebe Ann Naylor [Rosemary Forsyth] is about to marry Don Andrea de Baldasar [Alain Delon] in Louisiana, but the wedding is interrupted and Don Andrea must flee to Texas to get away from a Cavalry detail avenging the death of a comrade Don Andrea has killed. In Texas he meets Sam Hollis, who has a job for him.
