The Challenge (1982) - (Scott Glenn) Egtyptian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Moaty for a 1987 rerelease of the 1982 John Frankenheimer film The Challenge written by Richard Maxwell and John Sayles and starring Scott Glenn as Rick Murphy. Plot summary: Rick Murphy, a former boxer, is drawn into a feud between the Japanese brothers Hideo [Atso Nakamura] and Toru [Toshiro Mifune] Yoshida over a lost sword--a family heirloom. He takes sides with Toru, the marital arts master; he also falls in love with Toru's daughter Akiko [Donna Kei Benz]. Steven Seagal choreographed the Aikido moves.

This is a two-piece Italian 55" x 77" four-sheet poster designed to promote the 1967 John Frankenheimer film Grand Prix based on a screenplay by Robert Alan Aurthur and starring James Garner as Pete Aron. Plot summary: This film tells a story about four fictionalized Formula One drivers in the 1966 season; it gives a narrative about their driving experiences and includes sub-plots about their love lives.

Birdman of Alcatraz (1962) - (Burt Lancaster) Italian four-sheet

Shown here is a 55" x 77" two-piece Italian four-sheet poster made to promote the 1962 John Frankenheimer and Charles Crighton film Birdman of Alcatraz based on a book by Thomas E. Gaddis, a screenplay by Guy Trosper and starring Burt Lancaster as Robert Franklin Stroud, the birdman. Plot summary: The year is 1912. Robert Stroud is a convicted murderer in Leavenworth prison who murders a guard and is sentenced to be hung. President Woodrow Wilson's clemency saves his life, but he is placed in permanent solitary confinement by Warden Harvey Shoemaker [Karl Malden]. It is after these events that Stroud's legendary career as the prison birdman begins; he finds a fallen sparrow in the prison yard and decides to raise it.
