This is an 18.5" x 28" Yugoslavian poster for the 1960 Shue Matsubayashi film I Bombed Pearl Harbor AKA Storm over the Pacific written by Shinobu Hashimoto and Takeo Kunihiro and starring Toshiro Mifune as Admiral Isoroku Yamaguchi. Plot summary: After his participation in 1941 as a navigator-bombardier in the Japanese raid on the U.S. Pearl Harbor Naval Base, Lieutenant Koji Kitama [Yosuke Natsuki] is treated as a hero by the people of his hometown. He continuesto to fight for the honor of Japan, but his confidence in the virtue of his cause declines after the Japanese defeat in the Battle of Midway.

This is a 13" x 26" Italian locandina poster for a 1970s rerelease of the 1950 Akira Kurosawa film Rashomon based on stories by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, screenplay by Akira Kurosawa and Shinobu Hashimoto and starring Toshiro Mifune as Tajomaru. Plot summary: Rashomon is the name of a ruined gatehouse where three people are sheltering from a storm. They talk about the murder of a samurai, but their accounts of the incident are contradictory. The film makes no attempt to establish a definitive version of the story; its deliberate ambiguity has become known as the "Rashomon effect." According to many critics this is the film that introduced the world to Japanese film.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Ramzi for a 1959 rerelease of the 1958 Hiroshi Inagaki film The Rickshaw Man AKA Muhomatsu, the Rickshaw Man AKA Muhomatsu no issho based on a story by Shunsaku iwashita, screenplay by Hiroshi Inakaki and Mansaku Itami and starring Toshiro Mifune as Matsugoro. Plot summary: Matsugoro is a happy rickshaw driver who becomes frustrated by a love he is unable to confess when he saves an injured boy Toshio Yoshioka [Kenji Kasahara] and then falls in love with his mother Yoshiko [Hideko Takamine] who is of a higher social class.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Moaty for a 1987 rerelease of the 1982 John Frankenheimer film The Challenge written by Richard Maxwell and John Sayles and starring Scott Glenn as Rick Murphy. Plot summary: Rick Murphy, a former boxer, is drawn into a feud between the Japanese brothers Hideo [Atso Nakamura] and Toru [Toshiro Mifune] Yoshida over a lost sword--a family heirloom. He takes sides with Toru, the marital arts master; he also falls in love with Toru's daughter Akiko [Donna Kei Benz]. Steven Seagal choreographed the Aikido moves.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian one-sheet poster designed by Moaty for the 1971 Terence Young film Red Sun based on a story by Laird Koenig and starring Charles Bronson as Link Stuart. The film was shot in Spain. Plot summary: In a train robbery in 1870 the outlaw Link Stuart discovers that the Japanese ambassador is riding the train, carrying a ceremonial sword as a gift for President Ulysses S. Grant. Gauche [Alain Delon], one of the members of Link's gang, steals the sword and he and the gang leave Link for dead after trying to kill him. The surviving Japanese rescue Link and tell him to help the ambassador's bodyguard Kuroda [Toshiro Mifune] find Gauche and kill him. As they travel together looking for Gauche, Link learns to respect Kuroda and eventually puts his respect for Kuroda's bushido code ahead of his own needs when he has a chance to get money from Gauche.

This is a 27" x 39" Spanish poster printed in Barcelona to promote the 1968 John Boorman film Hell in the Pacific based on a story by Reuben Bercovitch, Alexander Jacobs and Eric Bercovici and starring Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune. Plot summary: Marvin and Mifune are two soldiers from the American and Japanese armies marooned on an uninhabited Pacific island during World War II. The demands of survival require them to overcome their mutual hostility and learn to work together.

This is a 26" x 38" Polish poster designed by Andrej Pagowski for a 1987 rerelease of the 1954 Akira Kurosawa film Seven Samurai based on a screenplay by Akira Kurosawa and Shinobu Hashimoto and starring Toshiro Mifune as Kikuchiyo. Plot summary: A samurai warrior who has fallen into hard times is recruited by the inhabitants of a town threatened by bandits, who need his help defending themselves. He brings in six other samurai to help with the task, which includes teaching self-defense to the people in the town and fighting the bandits when they attack.
