This is a 29" x 43" Argentine one-sheet poster for the 1952 William Dieterle film The Turning Point based on the Horace McCoy novel Storm in the City, screenplay by Warren Duff and starring William Holden as Jerry McKibbon. Plot summary: Los Angeles District Attorney John Conroy [Edmond O'Brien] is trying to crack down on a crime syndicate, but the syndicate has many city officials under its control. Newspaper man and old friend Jerry McKibbon helps him, but he does not think Conroy is up to the job. The film was inspired by Senator Estes Kefauver's committee hearings in 1950-1951 on organized crime.

Marquand serialized novel Rendezvous in Tokyo, screenplay by Richard L. Breen and Walter Reisch and starring Robert Wagner as Mark Fannon. Plot summary: On a routine mission to Tokyo American intelligence agent Mark Fannon learns about a plot by communist George Underwood [Edmund O'Brien] to assassinate the American high commissioner [Larry Keating]. He foils the plot with the help of fellow agent Tony Barrett [Ken Scott] and Japan-based American airport check-in counter receptionist Tina Llewellyn [Joan Collins].

This is a 13" x 30" Australian day bill poster for the 1953 Joseph L. Mankiewicz film Julius Caesar adapted from the play by William Shakespeare with screenplay by Joseph L. Mankiewicz and starring Marlon Brando as Mark Antony. Plot summary: In 44 BC, believing his ambition will lead to Tyranny, Brutus, [James Mason] Cassius [John Gielgud] and other high-ranking Romans murder Julius Caesar [Louis Calhern]. When Marc Antony defends Caesar in his funeral oratory the Roman people turn against the conspirators and drive them out of the city. Because his earlier performances had given him a reputation as a "mumbler," Brando's casting in a role from Shakespeare was was initially seen as a mistake, but thanks to his adoption of suggestions from John Gielgud, an experienced Shakespearian actor, Brando turned in a memorable performance that established him as a versatile actor.

Birdman of Alcatraz (1962) - (Burt Lancaster) Italian four-sheet

Shown here is a 55" x 77" two-piece Italian four-sheet poster made to promote the 1962 John Frankenheimer and Charles Crighton film Birdman of Alcatraz based on a book by Thomas E. Gaddis, a screenplay by Guy Trosper and starring Burt Lancaster as Robert Franklin Stroud, the birdman. Plot summary: The year is 1912. Robert Stroud is a convicted murderer in Leavenworth prison who murders a guard and is sentenced to be hung. President Woodrow Wilson's clemency saves his life, but he is placed in permanent solitary confinement by Warden Harvey Shoemaker [Karl Malden]. It is after these events that Stroud's legendary career as the prison birdman begins; he finds a fallen sparrow in the prison yard and decides to raise it.
