This is a 67" x 104" 14-piece Egyptian billboard designed by Hussein Fawzi of Studio Adly to promote the 1952 Henry Barakat musical Don't Tell Anybody based an a story by Abu Seoud El-Ibiary, screenplay by Henry Barakat and starring Farid Al Atrache as Wahid. Plot summary: Wahid the musician loves a dancer named Wela [Samia Gamal] and proposes marriage to her after her return from a business trip. However while Wela is away Wahid marries a singer named Nousa [Nour Al Hoda] as part of a ruse arranged by Nousa's uncle Ghazal, [Stephan Rosti] who wants to marry Wela.

War Profiteer (1947) - (Bechara Wakim) Egyptian film program

This is a 5" x 6" 8-page Egyptian film program for the 1947 Niazi Mostafa film War Profiteer written by Abu Seoud El-Ibiary and starring Bechara Wakim as Hassanein. After the end of World War II, to compensate for lost war revenues some wealthy traders took to bribing government employees so they could get cheap goods for resale at high prices. The daughter of one of the war profiteers fell in love with a poor man. The war profiteer tried to buy off his daughter's love, but the boy refused and the trader had to agree to the marriage.

Plot summary: In Cairo during the World War II a poor boy named Hassan marries a runaway named Laaba, [Taheya Cariocca] who later becomes a cinema performer; she leaves Hassan for another man, then agrees to marry the other man while in Lebanon without telling him of her existing marriage to Hassan.

This is an original-year 23.5" x 35" Egyptian poster designed by Studio Gasour and Khatab and printed by al-Halaby printers of Cairo to promote the 1950 Helmy Rafla film The Girl from Paris [bint bariz] starring Taheya Cariocca based on story and dialogue by Abou Seoud El-Ibiary with cinematography by Bruno Salvi. Plot summary: The manager of a theater where Adel [Mohammad Fawzi] worked as a musician hired a French dancer to work with him; when a cable came to the manager apologizing that the dancer would not be coming to Cairo, he hired a local look-alike [Taheya Cariocca] whom he falsely presented as the French dancer. Adel was not aware of the impersonation at first but he fell in love with the substitute and married her even after he realized what had happened.

Pictured is an original year printing of a 33.5" x 45" Egyptian poster made to promote the 1953 Abbas Kamel 105-minute black-and-white film Guard Your Tongue [lisanak hosanak] starring Shadia with screenplay and dialogue by Abbas Kamel and cinematography by Mahmoud Nasr. Plot summary: In this 105-minute course of uninterrupted buffoonery, the village mayor sends his son to Cairo along with al-Dandrawy to meet with Hamdy [Karem Mahmoud], who is working at the Tram Company so a school and a hospital can be built in the village. There is an emotional relationship between Hamdy and his neighbor Hamida [Shadia]. Hamida's Aunt Wedad [Zeinat Sedki] likes the musician Ghandour [Farid Shawqi], who has hired Hamida to sing in his group. Ghandour wants to marry Wedad, but she refuses him. Maria [Hind Rostom] likes Ghandour. The singing group goes to the mayor's village and Ghandour and Mandour [Aziz Osman] decide to steal a large amount of money so they can blame it on Hamdy, but their plan fails. Everyone knows Ghandour and Mandour are behind the theft. Hamdy marries Hamida and her Aunt Wedad marries the village mayor. Hind Rostom (1931-2011) appears here at the age of 22 in a prominent role as Maria, a singing and dancing brunette.

The Highwayman (1959) - (Rushdy Abaza) Egyptian one-sheet

This Egyptian poster designed by Fathy Al-Khodri was made to promote the 1959 100-minute Hassan El-Seify black-and-white film The Highwayman starring Rushdy Abaza with screenplay by Hassan El-Seify, story and dialogue by Zaki Saleh and Stephan Rosti and cinematography by Alevise Orfanelli. Plot summary: Wahid (Rushdy Abaza) was a boy who lost his father as a child. His mother took care of him for a short time but then she also soon died. Wahid had a friend named Abou Ezz who worked as a drug dealer. Abou Ezz taught Wahid how to gamble and he lost all of his money. Then Abou Ezz proposed that he take part in a narcotics smuggling operation to get his money back. The police followed them and then Wahid was blamed for the killing of his cousin the officer Galal. Wahid deplored the murder and decided to kill his cousin's killer. He knew the killer was Al-Asmar the Dark One, a member of Abou Ezz's gang. Al-Asmar announced he was leaving the gang and going to Alexandria. Wahid followed him, shot at him, then fled in an automobile he stopped on the road driven by a singer (Hoda Soltan) with her writer friend. At the singer's home Wahid told his story to the woman and then the singer also talked about her past. Abou Ezz arrived at the home of the singer; the police arrived at the same time and arrested the members of Abou Ezz's gang. One of them admitted he was the killer Al-Asmar. Wahid was released and decided to marry the singer.

As You Like (1952)

As You Like [ala kayfak] (1952) - (Taheya Cariocca) oversize Egyptian film poster (36" x 47")

This film was directed by Helmy Raflah with story and dialogue by Abu Seoud El-Ibiary. Cinematography was by Bruno Salvi. Plot summary: A young man celebrated his wedding day but it was discovered that night that a child was attributed to him. The child's grandfather learned about this and appeared to demand that the bridegroom marry his daughter after going back to her. The young man was innocent of this accusation, but the only solution was to find the boy who had gotten the girl pregnant and have him marry her. Otherwise he would have to refuse to complete the marriage after being accused about the child. The only way out for the boy they were looking for was to claim insanity and commit himself. The bridegroom learned he had done and went to visit him. The boy emphasized his innocence and then the bride agreed to the completion of the marriage.
