This is a 67" x 104" 14-piece Egyptian billboard designed by Hussein Fawzi of Studio Adly to promote the 1952 Henry Barakat musical Don't Tell Anybody based an a story by Abu Seoud El-Ibiary, screenplay by Henry Barakat and starring Farid Al Atrache as Wahid. Plot summary: Wahid the musician loves a dancer named Wela [Samia Gamal] and proposes marriage to her after her return from a business trip. However while Wela is away Wahid marries a singer named Nousa [Nour Al Hoda] as part of a ruse arranged by Nousa's uncle Ghazal, [Stephan Rosti] who wants to marry Wela.

Shown here is a first printing of a 9" x 13" 12-page Egyptian program for the 1954 115-minute black-and-white Helmy Rafla film Who Do You Love [lamin hawak] starring Kamal Al-Shennawi and Hoda Soltan based on screenplay, dialogue and story by Youssef Gohar with cinematography by Masud Isa. The film was produced by Asia Film. Plot summary: Nadia was suffering because of the behavior of her sister Nawal, who was a deceptive girl. She sought counseling in this matter from Dr. Adel and during these consultations love grew between Adel the physician and Nadia the nurse. Nawal's sister married and then divorced a swindler, while Adel and Nadia eventually married when their love grew stronger.

Pictured is a 9.25" x 9.25" 12-page Egyptian program designed to promote the 1956 95-minute black-and-white film Sea of Love [bahr al-gharam] written and directed by Hussein Fawzi starring Naima Akef with screenplay by Hussein Fawzi and Amin Yousef Ghurab, dialogue by Amin Youssef Ghurab and cinematography by Mohamed Abdel Azim. Plot summary: Touna [Naima Akef] and Amin [Rushdy Abaza] were sweethearts in Damietta in a fishing compound owned by their two fathers. They loved the constant clear skies and the pure waters of the Mediterranean but each became angry and jealous when seeing the other interacting casually with a member of the opposite gender. Amin's boat was caught in a storm and he was badly injured. A theater director [Youssef Wahby] recognized Touna's talent and offered her work as a performer, so she went to Cairo and became a showgirl so she could pay Amin's costly medical expenses at a Cairo hospital.

First Love (1956) - (Samia Gamal) Egyptian film program

This is an original year 8" x 11" 12-page Egyptian film program for the 1956 Niazi Mostafa film First Love based on a story by Gerda Corbett and Botros Zarbenelli and starring Samia Gamal [1924 - 1994] as Zeinab. The program includes song lyrics, plot and key photographic images. Plot Summary: There was a quarrel between Senia the first dancer in a dance troupe and its director, and he fired her. This gave Zeinab an opportunity to be the troupe's lead dancer. However the group's main singer refused to sing in front of her. Zeinab suggested to the director that he give the opportunity to her lover, a novice singer named Salah, who succeeded with his first trial; this made Senia resent him. She told Salah Zeinab was in a relationship with the director, whereupon Salah's relationship with Zeinab soured. The director rehired Senia. There was a quarrel between Senia's assistants and Zeinab's assistants just before a performance began. When Zeinab performed she made a place for herself in the public eye. Then she went back to Salah, who had seen the truth.

Deprivation (1954) - (Fayrouz) Egyptian one-sheet

This is an Egyptian promotional poster designed by Ahmed Fouad for the 1954 110-minute black-and-white Atef Salem musical Deprivation [al-herman] starring Fayrouz as Mona with screenplay by Atef Salem, story and dialogue by Nairuz Abdel Malek and cinematography by Mahmoud Nasr. Plot summary: A married couple lived separately. Wafa' [Zouzou Mady] worked her private home job and paid Engineer Fadel [Imad Hamdi] the father to take care of his small daughter Mona. Since he could not find anyone to look after Mona during his absence, he took her with him to work. While tampering with machinery at Fadel's plant, Mona accidentally caused her father to be caught in the moving parts of a large machine, which broke his arm. Mona ran away feeling tormented and guilty. She met Baheyya, [Negma Ibrahim] a malicious woman who took her in and treated her cruelly. Meanwhile Fadel was looking everywhere for his daughter. He went to Alexandria with his wife, who felt Mona had violated the rights of her family. Mona ran away from Baheyya, disguised herself as a boy named Bondoq and went to Alexandria as a stowaway on a train. There she took refuge with a kindly fisherman named Aouf [Adly Kasseb] and his mother [Souraya Fakhry]. Her mother and father found her later and she told them what had happened.

This is a 35.5" x 47" oversize stone litho Egyptian poster designed by an unknown artist to promote the 1954 Mahmoud Zulfikar 130-minute black-and-white film The Good Earth الارض الطيبة based on a story by Mahmoud Zulfikar with screenplay and dialogue by Youssef Gohar, cinematography by Victor Antoun and starring Mariam Fakhr Eddine as Saadia. Plot summary: A simple country girl named Saadia lived on a farm with her wealthy uncle Ali [Hussein Riad] without realizing she was the daughter of a wealthy man from a secret marriage. The wealthy man left his great wealth to his daughter and died. She went to Cairo to receive her inheritance. Her uncle's wife Bahiga [Zuzu Madi] plotted with her lover Zaki [Abdel Salam Al Nabulsy] to confiscate the girl's money with the help of her mother's brother, a poor photographer named Hussein [Kamal Al-Shennawy]. However the heiress gradually fell in love with her uncle Hussein, who revealed the details about a fraudulent court case they were trying to build against her, causing it to fail. The girl went back to the farm and distributed her inheritance among the peasants working there, then married her uncle after realizing he was a good man even if he was poor.

My Nights of Love [ليالي الحب] (1956) - (Abdel Halim Hafez) Egyptian one-sheet

This is an Egyptian 27" x 39" undated rerelease one-sheet poster for the 1955 Helmy Rafla film My Nights of Love starring Abdel Halim Hafez as Ahmed Momtaz. Plot summary: Ahmed Momtaz was a low-level employee who invented a type of fireproof cloth. He offered his invention to his direct supervisor, who in turn offered it to the one above him and so on until it reached the executive director. Each person in the chain took credit for the invention himself. He went with his colleague to see the executive director at his home where they were having a costume party. He met the director's daughter thinking she was the maid, and they liked each other. She thought he was a millionaire because he had the same name as the millionaire Ahmed Momtaz. The real millionaire appeared, who was courting the girl. The director discovered the truth. Ahmed tried to prove to the director that he was the owner of the invention. There was a confrontation between the employee and the millionaire, which ended in Ahmed's favor. He married his love after the director learned the truth about the invention.

Plot summary: Nahed was the daughter of a rich woman renowned for her cruelty. When she fell in love with Hassan [Shukry Sarhan] her mother forbade them to marry and then found the two of them together in a public place. When Nahed fled the scene to avoid her mother she fell into a coma and woke up with amnesia. Lost and confused, she fell prey to an evil magician [Mahmoud El-Meliguy] who bewitched her and employed her as a singer. He contrived to keep her with him and deceive all the people who were looking for her.

This is an original-year 23.5" x 35" Egyptian poster designed by Studio Gasour and Khatab and printed by al-Halaby printers of Cairo to promote the 1950 Helmy Rafla film The Girl from Paris [bint bariz] starring Taheya Cariocca based on story and dialogue by Abou Seoud El-Ibiary with cinematography by Bruno Salvi. Plot summary: The manager of a theater where Adel [Mohammad Fawzi] worked as a musician hired a French dancer to work with him; when a cable came to the manager apologizing that the dancer would not be coming to Cairo, he hired a local look-alike [Taheya Cariocca] whom he falsely presented as the French dancer. Adel was not aware of the impersonation at first but he fell in love with the substitute and married her even after he realized what had happened.

Plot summary: Hosni the poor boy [Shukry Sarhan] and Nahed the rich girl [Doria Ahmed] fell in love despite their social differences but Nahed's father took a vigilant stand against the relationship. One day the mother [Alawiya Gamil] saw her daughter hiding among some stalks with her boyfriend and chased her. During the chase Nahed was hurt in a fall and lost her memory, which caused her to wander in the street without knowing who she was. Then she met the hypnotist Dr. Ezzat [Mahmoud El-Meliguy] who made a nightclub performer of her and profited from her work behind her back. He knew her mother was looking for her and kept her out of sight. When the mother published Nahed's picture in the newspaper the crook hid her even more carefully. Nahed was hurt in another acident, her memory came back and she decided to go back to her mother, who welcomed her back, expressed regret and agreed to her marriage to Hosni.

Plot summary: A wealthy farmer owns hundreds of acres of land. He advises his son to marry his friend's daughter but she refuses because she does not want to marry a farmer. Her father pressures her to marry him because this will relieve him of financial hardship due to the money he will get after they marry. However the girl loves her cousin in Cairo who does not have money. The boy meets a dancer and and asks her to teach him the ways of modern life and how to interact with girls. He wants all of this so he can please the girl who has refused him. The dancer falls in love with him. Meanwhile the girl discovers the truth about her cousin, who abandons her after learning her father is on the verge of bankruptcy. Then the girl agrees to marry the first boy. The dancer withdraws from their lives.

Plot summary: A wealthy girl took a ride in a taxi one day and she and the driver fell in love, but the driver was ashamed to show his feelings because of the huge difference in their social classes. She asked him to marry her but he refused for that reason. She then tried to trick him by dressing as a poor girl who worked as a singer in a nightclub. The driver fell in love with the singer, only to discover she was the same rich girl. After overcoming interference from a few people they knew, they finally married.

Plot summary: The two cousins Yasmina [Shadia] and Farid [Farid Al Atrache] despise each other but decide to marry anyway because that is the only way they can meet the conditions of their grandfather's will, which stipulates they will be disinherited if they are not married. They agree the marriage will be on paper only. Nana [Hind Rostom], the woman to whom Farid's heart really belongs, accompanies them as a chaperone on their honeymoon to Aswan along with Farid's friend Zaher [Abdel Moneim Ibrahim]. Then during the honeymoon Yasmina discovers she really loves Farid and Farid also discovers he loves only Yasmina; the two restart their honeymoon.

Plot summary: Monir [Farid Al Atrache] was an insignificant employee at the Telegraph Company, and an artist: a musician who had never found a place for himself. He met a dancer named Nadia [Samia Gamal] and they fell in love, but Monir soon became jealous of Nadia's dancing teacher Ghazal [Abdel Salam Al Nabulsy] and ended his relationship with her. He met a girl named Souraya [Zeinat Sedki] who was about to commit suicide because her father [Hassan Fayek] was forcing her to marry someone she did not love. Monir saved her from doing that, but her fiance immediately disliked him.
