This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Stamatis Vassiliou for the 1962 Albert Naguib film Tomorrow Will Be Another Day based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Hassan Tewfik and starring Hind Rostom as Laila. Plot summary: Laila used to spend some of her time on the banks of the Nile. That was where she first met her husband Ahmed Abdel Salam [Imad Hamdi] and his friend Rafet, [Ahmed Ramzi] who had been in love with her for a long time. However Ahmed was the one she married; they had a baby girl. As the years went by Ahmed's sister Mona [Zahrat El-Ola] kept hoping in vain Rafet would develop feelings for her. In 1956 during the Suez Crisis Ahmed was summoned to defend the country. Laila received a report Ahmed had been killed but could not accept it. After five years Rafet went back to the home of his absent friend. Ahmed's daughter Nadia became close to Rafet, who was trying to get Laila to marry him. When Nadia became ill Ahmed cared for her. Laila finally agreed to the marriage to save her daughter. During the Suez fighting Ahmed had fled into the desert and survived with help from the Bedouins. When he finally got home he was shocked when he found his wife and Rafet together and shot Rafet, but not fatally. Ahmed was given a suspended prison sentence and went back to his wife Laila.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian one-sheet poster designed by Walid Wahig for the 1959 Houssam El-Din Mustafa film I Won't Forget You [بفكر في اللي ناسيني based on a screenplay by Mohamed Osmani, story and dialogue by Abdel Hamid Gawda al-Sahar and starring Hind Rostom as Sawsan. Plot summary: Laila [Fayrouz] was in love with Engineer Hossam [Shukry Sarhan] and he wanted to propose to her, but her family would not allow them to marry until her big sister Sawsan married. Although Sawsan was beautiful and very appealing, nobody wanted to marry her because she was too egotistical and greedy. Then she suddenly became obsessed with Hossam and married him; Laila had a breakdown. After that Hossam's friend Kamal [Rushdy Abaza] instantly fell in love with Sawsan when she flirted with him, seemingly oblivious of Sawsan's marriage to his friend Hossam. Kamal turned his back on his wife and became so crazy about Sawsan that he quarreled with her when he found her talking to another man, so she yanked a heavy statue from a mantle and struck him on the head with it, killing him. They gave Sawsan a ten-year jail sentence; when Hossam heard what had happened he went back to his first love Laila, whom he had never forgotten.

Plot summary: The seamstress Dusa runs a house of prostitution through her home. Nadia came to see her about sewing her a dress. Dusa liked her. She told Nadia her husband had a relationship with someone else. Nadia neglected her home and her children and fell in love with Ahmed, then asked for a divorce. Her husband tried to get her back but failed. Then Nadia and Ahmed had a fight and she killed him. The police arrested her; meanwhile Dusa's house burned down.

Plot summary: Galila was a young girl who lived with her mother's husband. He was always making her steal from the customers at a tavern he managed, where her sister was a dancer. Galila decided to stop stealing. One night she fled the tavern and went to a distant village. She turned up at the home of Youssef Bey who had taken her in to work in his home. Galila's presence soon caused many problems for she was a beautiful girl who attracted the attention of both the father Youssef and the son Hassan, who worked as a veterinarian, as well as Shaaban the school superintendent who tried to rape her. They all wanted to get close to Galila. Shaaban discoverd the truth about Galila and she found herself surrounded by harsh language. The father and the son fell in love with her. Galila decided to leave the farm. Hassan was hurt. Galila returned to her mother's husband leaving an open question at the end of the film: would she marry Hassan or not?

His daughter and Nawal became like mother and daughter, and Magdi's relationship with Nawal helped him forget his sorrow because of the loss of his wife. As the story develops Megdi's friend Dr. Monir [Mahmoud El-Meliguy (1910-1933)] also forms a close relationship with Nawal, who is in fact the film's "gift from heaven."

Plot summary: Nemat was expelled from school and became a nightclub dancer after her mother left home. Her father was unable to get her to come back home, and then lost his job when he was fired by his boss, Amin. Nemat heard about this and went back home to stay with him and give up her work as an entertainer. He went out to bring food for her but when he returned she had already left home again to become the lover of his old boss Amin. Nemat's father tried to kill his wife. He blinded her but did not succeed in killing her and was put in jail for attempted murder. Nemat met an attorney named Hussein, who was Amin's son. They were about to marry, but Amin would have none of it and drove Hussein away Nemat's health was destroyed in an accident that left her unable to dance. She was diagnosed with a critical respiratory ailment and Amin left her, alone and penniless. The father was released from prison and made amends with his wife and daughter. Hussein went back to Nemat and promised to marry her and pay for her medical care. She accepted his proposal and put her life in his hands.

He knew her mother was looking for her and kept her out of sight. When the mother published Nahed's picture in the newspaper the crook hid her even more carefully. Nahed was hurt in another acident, her memory came back and she decided to go back to her mother, who welcomed her back, expressed regret and agreed to her marriage to Hosni.

Hamida's Aunt Wedad [Zeinat Sedki] likes the musician Ghandour [Farid Shawqi], who has hired Hamida to sing in his group. Ghandour wants to marry Wedad, but she refuses him. Maria [Hind Rostom] likes Ghandour. The singing group goes to the mayor's village and Ghandour and Mandour [Aziz Osman] decide to steal a large amount of money so they can blame it on Hamdy, but their plan fails. Everyone knows Ghandour and Mandour are behind the theft. Hamdy marries Hamida and her Aunt Wedad marries the village mayor. This is an undated Egyptian rerelease poster made to promote the 1958 Salah Abouseif 121-minute color film Sleepless [la anam] starring Faten Hamama and Omar Sharif based on a story by Ihsan Abd al-Qudus with screenplay by El Sayed Bedeir and Salah Ezzedine, dialogue by Saleh Gawdat and cinematography by Abdelhalim Nasr. Plot summary: Nadia's [Faten Hamama] father [Yehia Chahine] divorced her mother and she grew up in her father's care. He did not remarry and dedicated his life to educating and caring for his daughter. When Nadia was 16 her father married Safia [Mariam Fakhr Eddine] who was a lady of nobility, but Nadia was alienated from the woman who came to take her mother's place in her father's castle. Nadia met Mostafa [Imad Hamdi] at a party and began dating him and frequenting his apartment without the knowledge of her family. Then Mostafa met her father's wife at a party and showed an interest in her. Nadia became more jealous of her, which led to her banishment from the house. Nadia deceived her father into believing there was a sinful relationship between his wife and his brother Aziz [Omar Sharif] who was living in the house with him. The father divorced his wife and she departed from the home, leaving Nadia lady of the house once more. Nadia felt remorse of conscience and arranged for her father to marry Kawsar [Hind Rostom], an old associate of hers they encountered while on a beach in Alexandria. However she quickly discovered that her father's new wife Kawsar had a lover named Samir [Rushdy Abaza] to whom she intended to give the wealth of Nadia's father. Nadia recorded a telephone conversation between them demonstrating this. She refrained from telling the truth to her father to keep from ruining his marriage a second time. Her suffering increased when she realized Mostafa did not love her after all and that he had gone to Safia after the divorce and courted her for himself. Her father came upon Mostafa's new wife with her lover and Nadia had to convince her father that he was her own lover who had come to court her. However Nadia could not continue the deception and finally told her father the truth on the wedding night. Fate intervened another time when a candle set fire to Nadia's wedding gown right after she had refused to marry Samir during a forced ceremony and was taken to a hospital, where they saved her life leaving her body disfigured with burns. This film is included on critic Ahmad Al-Hadari's 2007 list of Egypt's 100 most important films.

Plot summary: This biographical film portrays the life of Shafiqa the Copt, the most famous Egyptian dancer of the early 20th century, with Hind Rostom in the role of Shafiqa. Plot summary: Shafiqa was obliged to leave her only son in the care of her mother, who had banished Shafiqa from the home in deference to the demands of Shafiqa's conservative father. Although Shafiqa had a vast fortune and some of her best friends were important men in the government, the father did not permit her to see her son. Aziz grew up, came into his prime and fell in love with Soad, the daughter of Prime Minister Asad Pasha, who at the time was himself Known as the greatest lover in his government. Shafiqa formed a relationship with her son later. She invited him many times to her home without telling him she was his mother or that she was a famous dancer. In the presence of his daughter, Asad Pasha was indifferent to Aziz when he asked for her hand, but in turn the minister was indifferent to his wife because of Shafiqa's influence. He then ordered Aziz imprisoned and abandoned the dancer. Shafiqa's maid Bahia became the minister's consort after the theft of the assets of her mistress. Soad abandoned the life of the world, entered a convent and refused to marry Aziz after his escape from prison. Finally as she was dying in his arms, Aziz realized Shafiqa was his mother.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Mohammad Abdel Aziz to promote the 1960 Seif Eddin Shawkat 76-minute black-and-white film Man without a Heart [ragal bila qalb] starring Hind Rostom based on story and screenplay by Hassan Tewfik with cinematography by Abdelhalim Nasr. Galal [Yehia Chahine] discovered his wife Zahra [Zahrat El-Ola] had betrayed him with Kamal [Shukry Sarhan] and killed him. He swore he would never again go near his wife. The years passed and the separation continued. Aida [Hind Rostom] came to the estate intending to draw Galal into her net. Galal found her lying ill on the ground and took her to his home to stay there until she could recover. She caught his son [Ahmed Ramzy], a student named Nabil, in her net, because he loved her madly. The son and the father competed to get close to Aida while Galal's wife Zahra was aware of this situation and kept silent. Zahra quickly learned that Aida was the sister of the murdered Kamal come to take revenge against her brother's killer. Aida succeeded in getting Galal to ask her to marry him, then Galal chased his son across a field with a rifle with the intent of killing him after learning Aida was running away with him. Before Galal could shoot, he was killed with a bullet fired by his wife, who wanted to get justice for herself. This is an example of one of those remarkable events often seen in movies where people otherwise not known to the audience for having any abilities with firearms unexpectedly demonstrate remarkable prowess by hitting a human target with a single fatal shot.

Shown here is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Khalil to promote the 1959 100-minute Mohamed Abdel Gawad black-and-white film A Kiss in the Night [qabbelni fil-zalam] starring Hind Rostom based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Mohammed Abdel Gawad with cinematography by Klelio. Plot summary: Aziz married an aristocratic girl named Lola, but they soon soon had a disagreement that ended in divorce. Lola's father Abdel Hamid lost his wallet containing money and important papers. Hussein found it and returned it to him intact despite his proverty, then he refused the money Abdel Hamid offered him as a reward. Lola began courting him so she could forget her life with Aziz and she asked him to work for her to keep her from going back to her husband. Then she backed off, but Hussein remained interested. Abdel Hamid saw Hussein's honesty and dedication to his work. Lola decided to behave as if Hussein was her husband but she had an episode of jealousy when he got close to her cousin. Over time Lola became sure of her feelings and her love for Hussein, and her father Abdel Hamid agreed to let her marry him.

Shown here is the first printing of a 24" x 35" Egyptian poster by an unknown designer printed by Ashur and Company to promote the 1948 Helmy Rafla 125-minute black-and-white film The Sprit and the Body [al-ruh wal-gessad] starring Muhammad Fawzi based on screenplay, dialogue and story by Youssef Gohar with cinematography by Bruno Salvi. The film was produced by Muhammad Fawzi Films and distributeb by Montakhebat Behna Film. Plot summary: Two young men were quite close to each other. One was a musician and the other was a scholar and a poet. The scholar married a musician and the musician married a dancer, but he also lost his sight in an accident, which caused him to stop singing. The friends became closer, and the musician's sight was restored in an operation. When this happened he concentrated on his art with renewed determination.

Shown here is a first printing of a 23.5" x 35.25" Egyptian poster designed by Hassan Mazhar Gasour and printed by Al-Nasr Printers to promote the 1954 Henry Barakat film It Happened One Night [hadasa zata laila] starring Hoda Soltan based on a screenplay by Henry Barakat with story and dialogue by Fathy Abol-Fadl and cinematography by Klelio. The film was produced by Kamel Abdullah Hamuda's Arabic Films Company and distributed by Montekhabat Behna. Plot summary: A poor girl married a rich boy despite opposition from the boy's father. She lived happily with her husband until she fell into the clutches of a young hustler who told her her husband had injured him in an accident. Her husband found out about him holding her and divorced her without understanding that his wife was innocent, then went abroad. The wife took revenge against the hustler who had ruined her life by killing him. Then when she tried to commit suicide her young attorney saved her and defended her in court, where he successfully reduced her sentence. He promised to marry her after her release from prison.
