This is a 13" x 26" Italian locandina poster for the 1972 Mark Rydell film The Cowboys based on the novel of the same title by William Dale Jennings, screenplay by Irving Ravetch, Harriet Frank Jr. and William Dale Jennings and starring John Wayne as Wil Andersen. Plot summary: In 1878 Montana rancher Wil Andersen's cattle drivers abandon him to follow a gold strike; to get his herd to market he is obliged to replace them with a group of inexperienced schoolboys.

This is a 29" x 43" Argentine hand litho one-sheet by an unknown designer made to promote the 1955 H. Bruce Humberstone film Ten Wanted Men based on a story by Irving Ravetch and Harriet Frank Jr., screenplay by Kenneth Gamet and starring Randolph Scott as John Stewart. Plot summary: In 19th century southern Arizona, ranchers John Stewart and Wick Campbell [Richard Boone] get into a deadly feud because of Campbell's jealous resentment of the interest shown by his ward Maria Segura [Donna Martell] in Stewart's son Howie [Skip Homeier] and because of Stewart's decision to protect Maria at his ranch from the violently possessive Campbell. Campbell's hired guns go after the Stewart family and steal their cattle. The film includes an early appearance by Lee Van Cleef as Al Drucker, one of Campbell's henchmen.

This is a 13" x 30" Australian stone litho daybill poster for the 1963 Martin Ritt film Hud based on the 1961 Larry McMurtry novel Horseman, Pass By with screenplay by Irving Ravetch and Harriet Frank, Jr. and starring Paul Newman as Hud Bannon. Plot summary: This is a contemporary Western drama played by a core ensemble cast including Texas cattle rancher Homer Bannon [Melvyn Douglas], his violent alcoholic son Hud, Hud's nephew Lonnie Bannon [Brandon de Wilde] and their middle-aged housekeeper Alma [Patricia Neal]. Life on the ranch is disrupted by the discovery of foot-and-mouth disease among the cattle, a state ordered livestock quarantine and the killing of the herd by order of the state veterinarian. Other problems cause major conflicts in the family including a profound antagonism between Homer and Hud and Hud's abusive interest in Alma. Hud won three academy awards including Best Actress (Patricia Neal), Best Supporting Actor (Melvyn Douglas) and Best Cinematography (James Wong Howe).

Conrack (1974) - (Jon Voight) US one-sheet

This is a US 27" x 41" one-sheet poster for the 1974 Martin Ritt film Conrack starring Jom Voight based on the book The Water is Wide by Pat Conroy, screenplay by Irving Ravetch and Harriet Frank Jr. and starring Jon Voight as Conrack. Plot summary: In March 1969 Pat Conroy (Conrack) starts teaching at an isolated school on Daufuskie Island in a South Carolina river delta accessible only by boat, in an area inhabitied exclusively by blacks. He soon learns that the children at his school have not been served well by the school system and lack basic skills such as competence with the alphabet and simple arithmetic, as well as other elementary matters such as personal hygiene. Conrack decides to redress these oversights but in so doing he upsets the local social applecart and loses his job.
