Plot summary: Lawrence Dell is a renegade US Air Force general who infiltrates and takes over an ICBM complex he once helped design. He then contacts the president of the United States David Stevens [Charles Durning] and demands a public admission that the US government fought the Vietnam war knowing it could not win, simply as a propaganda measure aimed at manipulating the Soviet Union. This is a 27" x 41" US poster for the 1976 Roman Polanski film The Tenant AKA Le Locataire based on the 1964 Roland Topor novel Le Locataire chimerique, screenplay by Gerard Brach and Roman Polanski and starring Roman Polanski as Trelkovsky. This is the last film in Polanski's Apartment Trilogy after Repulsion and Rosemary's Baby. Plot summary: Trelkovsky rents an apartment in Paris previously occupied by an Egyptologist named Choule who has attempted suicide. Trelkovsky finds his new environment a difficult adjustment because of the strange people around him; he begins hallucinating and taking on some of their characteristics.

The Changeling (1980) - (George C. Scott) Italian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 39" Italian one-sheet poster for the 1980 Peter Medak film The Changeling based on a story by Russell Hunter, screenplay by William Gray and Diana Maddox and starring George C. Scott as John Russell. Plot summary: After losing his wife and daughter in a traffic accident John Russell rents an old mansion in suburban Seattle where he hopes to settle into his work and recover from the loss. He soon realizes his new home is occupied by the ghost of a murdered young boy named Joseph Carmichael. Carmichael's father had murdered him and replaced him with another boy who eventually became a US senator [Melvyn Douglas]. At the ghost's urging Russell investigates the murder, finds the skeletal remains of the murdered boy and confronts the senator with the facts. The story is reportedly based on the actual experiences of author Russell Hunter while he was living in a mansion in Denver Colorado.

This is a 13" x 30" Australian stone litho daybill poster for the 1963 Martin Ritt film Hud based on the 1961 Larry McMurtry novel Horseman, Pass By with screenplay by Irving Ravetch and Harriet Frank, Jr. and starring Paul Newman as Hud Bannon. Plot summary: This is a contemporary Western drama played by a core ensemble cast including Texas cattle rancher Homer Bannon [Melvyn Douglas], his violent alcoholic son Hud, Hud's nephew Lonnie Bannon [Brandon de Wilde] and their middle-aged housekeeper Alma [Patricia Neal]. Life on the ranch is disrupted by the discovery of foot-and-mouth disease among the cattle, a state ordered livestock quarantine and the killing of the herd by order of the state veterinarian. Other problems cause major conflicts in the family including a profound antagonism between Homer and Hud and Hud's abusive interest in Alma. Hud won three academy awards including Best Actress (Patricia Neal), Best Supporting Actor (Melvyn Douglas) and Best Cinematography (James Wong Howe).
