Spectre of Scorpion (1991) - (Kazem Afrandnia) Iranian one-sheet

This is a 26.5" x 38" Iranian poster for the 1987 film Spectre of Scorpion written and directed by Kianush Ayari and starring Kazem Afrandnia. Plot summary: Mahmoud is an 8mm filmmaker who has a special affinity for 8mm film. He makes a short film called Spectre of Scorpion with the intent of making a feature length film from the screenplay, but this is prevented by a shortage of resources. Mahmoud has a friend named Hassan who makes Persian films. Their friendship becomes the basis for a story. Love for cinema and weariness of all the effort ultimately brings the story into real life. He flees with the money after robbing Mahmoud's jeweler friend. Mahmoud's brother, who is a suspect in the theft, helps Mahmoud pursue Hassan. At the end Mahmoud intends to return the jewels; he unwittingly confesses when he sees Hassan's death.

Cargo (1988) - (Jahangir Almasi) Iranian poster

This is a 19.5" x 27.5" Iranian poster for the 1988 Sirus Alvand film Cargo written by Gholamreza Moosavi and starring Jahangir Almasi. Plot summary: Ali Danesh, an archaeologist with the Ministry of Culture and Art, was trying to dig up a 3000-year-old collection of tremendous value. Danesh informed some newspaper journalists about the discovery. The heads of the ministry, who wanted to seize the collection, reprimanded Danesh for informing the newspapers and they took steps with some foreigners to sell the collection. On the other hand General Azadi, who was collecting ancient artifacts for his personal museum and a broker named Nosrat were knocking themselves out to acquire the collection. Azadi, who had more influence than others, took control the collection despite the efforts of Danesh, and Nosrat absconded with it to get it into General Azadi's hands with a new transaction. The general and Nosrat were making a deal but before reaching the site for the talks Nosrat told his mother where the collection was located so she could make it available to Ali Danesh in case of danger. Danesh obtained some of the items discovered and buried them to keep them out of the hands of Azadi and the brokers. Azadi, who still wanted to get the collection, knocked out Danesh and was killed by Nosrat.

Falling (1993) - (Dariush Arjmand) Iranian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 19" Iranian poster by an unnamed designer for the 1993 film Falling AKA Hoboot written and directed by Ahmad Reza Mo'tamedi and starring Dariush Arjmand as Adam. Plot summary: We see the protagonist's existential dilemma portrayed in a hallucinatory fantasy. Adam has lost his way and is now desperately trying to find himself again. He tries to go back to the past but cannot find it; the devil haunts him during his search, making the earth collapse beneath his feet. Phantoms plunder the light and water in a procession of visions, but Adam still does not remember who he is.
