This is a 26.5" x 38" Iranian poster for the 1987 film Spectre of Scorpion written and directed by Kianush Ayari and starring Kazem Afrandnia. Plot summary: Mahmoud is an 8mm filmmaker who has a special affinity for 8mm film. He makes a short film called Spectre of Scorpion with the intent of making a feature length film from the screenplay, but this is prevented by a shortage of resources. Mahmoud has a friend named Hassan who makes Persian films. Their friendship becomes the basis for a story. Love for cinema and weariness of all the effort ultimately brings the story into real life. He flees with the money after robbing Mahmoud's jeweler friend. Mahmoud's brother, who is a suspect in the theft, helps Mahmoud pursue Hassan. At the end Mahmoud intends to return the jewels; he unwittingly confesses when he sees Hassan's death.

This is a 23.5" x 35.25" Iranian poster for the 1976 film Goodbye Little One written and directed by Reza Aghili and starring Fourouzan. Plot summary: Because of her work a famous singer [Fourouzan] neglects her only child Ali [Shahram Samimipoor]. The singer's driver Karim [Morteza Aghili] is the only one who pays any attention to Ali in the her absence and takes him out for play and recreation. Bahram, [Bahram Vatanparast] the singer's program director, keeps his time filled and and causes Ali and Karim to hate him. Karim complains about the mother's indifference towards her son and she decides to fire him, but Ali talks her out of it. Ali gets more and more depressed every day. Karim takes him to a hospital. The physician decides on a treatment but it does not work because he and his colleagues neglect it. Karim tells the woman about it; she is in the midst of a program in the city. She asks Bahram to suspend all her programs. Ali's condition deteriorates and the mother, Karim and Bahram take him to a religious shrine seeking a cure through an imam's intercession. Ali is finally cured and everyone is overjoyed.

Rooted in Blood (1985) - (Faramarz Gharibian) Iranian one-sheet

This is a 26.5" x 38" Iranian poster designed by Heddat for the 1985 Sirus Alvand film Rooted in Blood written by Mohammad Deihimi and starring Faramarz Gharibian. Plot summary: In 1964 in northern Iran a young man named Hojjat Ali Abadi [Jahangir Almasi] working against the Capitulation Law is supposed to go with Rasul [Faramarz Gharibian] from village to village. Hojjat is killed in an attack by agents but before he dies he gives Rasul a satchel with his political leaflets to take to the village of Kalarabad. Rasul, who has been wounded, flees to the forest and takes shelter in a thatched hut belonging to an old man named Shir Ali, [Akbar Zanjanpour] a charcoal maker who was involved decades earlier with Gilani revolutionary Mirza Kuchek Khan Jangali. Shir Ali treats Rasul's injury and feeds him. Road agents want to destroy Shir Ali's hut to build a road because the forest has been nationalized and the government has claimed Shir Ali's hut; they do not trust Shir Ali and are keeping him under surveillance. Shir Ali shelters Rasul and then helps him flee, but he himself is shot by a government soldier while they are running away.

This is a 27" x 38.5" Iranian poster for the 1987 film The Convicts written and directed by Naser Mohammadi and starring Enayat Bakhshi. Plot summary: In the heat of the revolution several security agents kidnapped the son of a jeweler with the intent of extortion and then released him after taking a large amount of jewels. Two of the kidnappers named Abbas and Parviz deceived their accomplices and fled with the jewels. They had decided to leave the country with the help of one of their accomplices named Hassan. Abbas and Parviz were both injured in a fight and Abbas fled into the northern forests with the jewels and passports. He had been severely wounded and fell unconscious in the forest. A blind old man took him to his home and cared for him. The old man's wife was suspicious of Abbas. Through her brother Hossein'ali she informed committee agents. Abbas and following him Hassan and Parviz were then arrested.

This is a 23.5" x 35" Iranian poster for the 1988 Siamak Shayeghi film Star and Diamond written by Davood Moslemi and starring Soraya Ghasemi as Mostafa's mother. Plot summary: A war-weary old man [Nematollah Gorji] takes his furniture and household goods to Tehran in a pickup to give to his daughter Karimeh [Fatemah Motamed-Aria]. On the way he is killed in an enemy air strike. Mostafa, [Hamid Jebeli] the driver of the pickup truck, decides to take the old man's property to Karimeh; he brings his own mother [Soraya Ghasemi] along. In Tehran one of the old man's trunks is stolen from the back of the pickup when Mostafa leaves it overnight in a parking lot. Mostafa complains to the police and they find it with difficulty. The mother gives the trunk, which is filled with wedding garments, to Karimeh. When she realizes the girl is living alone she arranges for her and Mostafa to marry.

Plot summary: Javad and his young wife Atefeh [Mahshid Afsharzadeh] are in conflict over the treatment of their paralytic daughter Sahar [Sara Mahin Torabi]. Javad is in financial difficulties and has no hope for his daughter's improvement, but Atefeh is heartened by encouragement from their child's physician. He tells her an experienced surgeon may be able to solve theproblem and gives her his contact information. Meanwhile one of Javad's friends named Reza, [Mohammad Shiri] who is a theater director, encourages him to take an important part in a children's play.

Pictured is a 25.5" x 35.5" Iranian poster desgined by Atileh Saeed to promote the 1974 Mohammed Motevaselani 98-minute black-and-white film The Compromise [sazesh] starring Behrouz Vossoughi based on a story by Mohammad Motevaselani with cinematography by Nemat Haghighi. Plot summary: Javad [Behrouz Vossoughi] is a young man who has taken a liking to a girl named Batoul [Nushafarin], whose mother is sick. To meet the costs of treatment and surgery for Batoul's mother, Javad decides to rob the home of a woman named Ziba [Nuri Kasrai]. There he finds that Ziba has a relationship with a man named Khalayeq, who is head of the neighborhood association. Javad decides instead of stealing he will blackmail Khalayeq. The next day Javad goes to Khalayeq's home and makes his demand. All of Khalayeq's options are controlled by his wife Badri [Mahin Shahabi] so he has a problem paying money to Javad. Javad poses as Dr. Khastegari, a name Khalayeq has been using as a telephone alibi with Badri, and gets himself invited by Badri to stay at Khalayeq's home. While there he sees that Khalayeq's son [Majid Mozaffari] is in an illicit relationship with the maid. He gradually gets involved with the lives of Khalayeq's rivals in the neighborhood association and learns their individual secrets. Ultimately at a meeting of the neighborhood association Javad runs for president. After he is elected he forgets about Batoul and finds himself in a lovely trap.

Pictured is a 23.5" x 35.5" Iranian poster designed by Heddat to promote the 1975 113-minute Shapur Gharib black-and-white film Mamal the America Lover [mamal-e amerikai] starring Behrouz Vossoughi and Googoosh based on a screenplay by Shapur Gharib with cinematography by Nemat Haghighi. The film was produced by Siera Film. Plot summary: A young man known as Mamal the America lover had a dream of going to America. Mamal had a friend who would write letters to him from America and encourage him to go to there. Mamal made a living stealing hubcaps and selling them to an Armenian named Sarkis. He tried to get a visa with the help of Sarkis, but because he did not have a reliable sponsor he could not get one. One day Mamal stole an automobile belonging to a woman named Nesrin. He found a letter in it that invited Nesrin to go to America. Mamal gave the automobile back to Nesrin and became friends with her. Nesrin's mother became Mamal's sponsor but when the friendship between Mamal and Nesrin deepened, Nesrin told Mamal that woman was not her mother; she was a wealthy woman who liked to have a good time and chase men. Mamal was hurt by Nesrin and quarreled with her. When Mamal saw Nesrin had no place to go he took her to his father's home and introduced her as his fiance. When Mamal awakened the next morning he saw Nesrin had left. Shortly thereafter Mamal decided to go wo America with the woman who liked to have a good time, but he was arrested at the airport.

This is a 23.5" x 35.25" Iranian poster designed by Mahmoud Behnam to promote the 1974 Ahmad Shirazi 104-minute black-and-white film Hostage [gerugan] starring Reza Beyk Imanverdi based on a screenplay by Reza Karimi with cinematography by Ahmad Shirazi. The film was produced by the Panorama Company. Plot summary: Mohsen and Abdollah were thieves working for a criminal boss. Abdollah was soon arrested and after a few incidents Mohsen decided to put aside the illegal activity and start living a respectable life. When Abdollah was released from prison he also started living lawfully. When the criminal was no longer getting results from his actions against them he abducted Mohsen's child to put him in a difficult situation. However with Mohsen's loyalty Abdollah was able to continue living a simple and peaceful life.
