Marquand serialized novel Rendezvous in Tokyo, screenplay by Richard L. Breen and Walter Reisch and starring Robert Wagner as Mark Fannon. Plot summary: On a routine mission to Tokyo American intelligence agent Mark Fannon learns about a plot by communist George Underwood [Edmund O'Brien] to assassinate the American high commissioner [Larry Keating]. He foils the plot with the help of fellow agent Tony Barrett [Ken Scott] and Japan-based American airport check-in counter receptionist Tina Llewellyn [Joan Collins].

Scott Fitzgerald. Plot summary: While working as a Hollywood gossip columnist in 1937, Sheilah Graham [Deborah Kerr] meets and falls in love with F. Scott Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald is writing short stories and screenplays to support his wife Zelda, who has been committed to an asylum, and his daughter Frances, who is in boarding school; his alcoholism causes problems in his relationship with Sheilah.
