with a famous singer named named Nabil [Saad Abdel Wahab]. To
insinuate herself into his life she impersonated his sister Seteita,
[Afaf Shaker] whom he had not seen in years.
This is a 27" x 39" undated rerelease Egyptian promotional poster for
the 1939 Mohamed Abdel Gawad film The Life and Passion of the Lord
Jesus Christ starring Ahmed A'lam as Jesus. Plot summary: This is
said to be the first film in Arabic about the life of Jesus. Jesus is
an adult when the film begins. The film catalogues his miracles and
other famous New Testament events.

Naima Akef (7 October 1929 - 23 April 1966) was
considered one of Egypt's greatest dancers; some
people still think she was better than any other
Egypt has produced. This is a poster for the
1949 Hussein Fawzi film Woman of Fire designed by Ahmed Fouad
and printed by Anwar printers of Cairo. Cinematography
was by Mahmoud Nasr; story and
screenplay were by the film's director, Hussein
Fawzi; distribution was by Badi' Sobhi Films. The
film tells the story of an Egyptian performer named Elham (AKA Lahalibo) who,
much like Naima Akef herself, is part of a
circus troupe that works the poor neighborhoods of
Cairo. The story revolves around some familiar Egyptian
social and family conflicts, always intensified in
cases such as this one where the subjects are also coping
with the additional social stigmas that go with being
public entertainers.

Helmy Rafla black-and-white film Hoda starring Nour Al Hoda based on a
story by Alexandra Nicola Badran (Nour Al Hoda) with screenplay by
Helmy Rafla, dialogue by Badei Khayri and cinematography by Mohamed
Abdel Azim. Plot Summary: A secretary worked with an important
businessman. She set out to win his heart, he was overwhelmed, fell in
love with her and finally married her to get her into his life. She
found his daughter the student Hoda antagonistic towards her. His
daughter rejected this wife who was not the right age nor in the right
social position for him. Disputes erupted betwen the young wife and
the daughter. The father could not avoid helping the wife and this
caused another dispute between his wife and daughter. Because of
this the daughter left her father's home. She decided to go her own
way to pursue her artistic gifts, and she succeeded. On the other
hand the wife began to devour her husband's assets, bringing him into
bankruptcy. She left him and became estranged from him. He found
himself alone until his daughter returned to him to reveal the secret
of the plot his wife had devised with her lover to steal his money.
He divorced her for revenge and returned to his daughter, regretting
his bitter experiences after learning much from them.

Amal (1952) - (Shadia) Egyptian oversize film poster
This film was directed by Youssef Maalouf, story and screenplay by Henry Barakat, cinematography Mostafa Hassan. The poster was designed by Farag and measures 47" x 36".
The plot as summarized in the studio film program: "Hussein
belonged to an old family in Alexandria and went to Cairo now and
then. He knew the dancer Soheir, loved her and married her without
telling his family, in order not to anger them. He chose a house for
her in Cairo and made a habit of visiting her there from day to day.
After months passed Soheir gave birth to a child named 'Widad.' When
Hussein learned about this he went quickly from Alexandria to witness
the birth, which was difficult in a way. After he was assured of the
health of mother and child he arranged to return to Alexandria and to
explain the matter to his family. He believed it would be easy to
persuade his father to accept Soheir into the family, since he was his
only son and because his father would be sympathetic to the little
granddaughter. However fate was unkind to the wife and her daughter.
Hussein's automobile turned over in a horrific accident. As a
result he was taken to the hospital and there his uncle came to see
him, since the father was bedridden. Hussein told his uncle about the
secret marriage and then died. The uncle, named Amr, saw what was
coming, because with the death of Hussein he would be the sole heir to
his brother's enormous fortune were it not for the unexpected
marriage. He therefore decided to make plans to make himself the sole
heir of the enormous wealth; he was was encouraged by his wife Doria
to carry out this evil plan, and the child Amal became an orphan. He
turned her over to the costodian of the estate. The years went by and
Amal became a lively, vigorous girl, but she lived like a stranger in
her own house, an abject person in her own land. Was she destined to
know her origins? Was she destined to win her beloved? You will find
out in the film."
