Shirin and Farhad (1970) - (Cuneyt Arkin) Iranian poster



Here is a 23.5" x 32.5" Iranian promotional poster designed by Mahmoud Behnam to promote the 1970 100-minute Esmail Kushan color film Shirin and Farhad starring Cuneyt Arkin based on a screenplay by Esmail Kushan, adapted from the work by the same name by the 12th-century poet Nizami Ganjavi, with cinematography by Mahmoud Kushan.

The above is a 10.25" x 24" Iranian poster designed by Mahmoud Behnam, also to promote the 1970 Shirin and Farhad film.

The film was produced by the Pars Film Studio. Plot summary: Shirin is supposed to marry Khosro but Farhad sees her and falls in love with her. To keep Farhad away from Shirin, Khosro sets a requirement that to marry her he must make water flow through a stone mountain. Farhad does this, but Khosro does not want to keep his promise. Farhad flees with Shirin and jumps off the top of the same mountain with her. They die side by side.

Pictured is a 19.5" x 27" Iranian poster designed by Beheshti to promote the 1969 Ismail Riyahi film Heaven Is Not Far Away بهشت دور نیست [behesht dur nist] starring Mohamad Ali Fardin based on a screenplay by Ismail Riyahi with cinematography by Shokrollah Rafii. The film was produced by Sina Film.

This is another poster the same size with a different design by Alizadeh made to promote the same film.

Plot summary: A child who had lost its mother always asked its young uncle for its mother; the uncle lied and told the child its mother had gone to heaven but would be returning some day. One day in a telephone conversation with a dancer the child thought it had found its mother. Telephone conversations and meetings deepened this relationship every day. Love also gradually grew between the dancer and the child's young uncle, to the point where the dancer quit her job. The owner of the cabaret where she had worked tried to bring her back but the young man prevented this and married her.

This is a 27.5" x 19.5" Iranian poster by an unknown designer made to promote the 1969 130-minute black-and-white Ahmad Shirazi film World Full of Hope [donya-ye por omid] based on a screenplay by Saeed Motalebi with cinematography by Ahmad Shirazi. The film was produced by the Mehregan Film Studio and distributed by Fardin Film. Plot summary: A child becomes separated from his father and lives alone and without hope. As a teenager he meets a girl who like him has lost her father as a child. The two begin a great search to find the father and they succeed after a series of adventures.
