This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster for the 1984 Ashraf Fahmy film The Maid based on a story by Naguib Mahfouz, screenplay and dialogue by Mostafa Moharram and starring Nadia El Guindy as Ferdoos. Plot summary: Ferdoos killed her husband with her lover's help, without any reservations because of his illness and old age. She went to work with the widow Hekmat [Mediha Yousri] who owned the company where her husband Ibrahim [Hafez Amin] used to work. Ferdoos went to Hekmat's home and lived with her son the university student Alaa, [Mamdouh Abd El Aleem] who depended on his mother and deferred to her. Ferdoos made Alaa fall in love with her. He married her and she became the dominant woman in the affairs of the family, especially after his mother was stricken with paralysis in an accident. She dispensed with the father quickly as well without notifying him when he stole Hekmat Hamen's jewelry. Then she brought Fathy [Mustafa Fahmy] the company director into her group. Alaa discovered her betrayal, divorced her and banished her from the house. He regretted what he had done with his mother. He comforted the father, who killed Ferdoos.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster for the 1986 Mohamed Khan film Omar's Journey based on a story by Mohamed Khan and Raouf Tawfiq and starring Farouk Al-Fichawy. Plot Summary: Omar [Farouk Al-Fichawy] lives dependent on his father the wealthy Al-Gawahargi [Mohamed Reda]. His father wants him to deliver a bag of jewels to a colleague in Tanta. On the way he runs out of gas. A worker also named Omar [Mamdouh Abd El Aleem] at a rural gas station tries to help him refuel but uses the wrong type. While they are trying to solve this problem a driver [Ahmad Abdel Waress] who had agreed to provide the correct type of fuel arrives in a big yellow dump truck and beats up Omar. The two Omars later continue the trip after picking up a local prostitute named Negah [Mediha Kamel] who is on her way to Port Said. With nothing to deliver in Tanta, they change the itinerary to take Negah to Port Said. When they stop at a restaurant for food they see the thieves in the bathroom and get into a brief inconclusive fight. Then they continue, driving at night. That night the first Omar and Negah sleep together when they stop at a hotel; then they continue the trip. On the way they are attacked again by the same thieves with the big yellow truck, who steal the jewelry and the car and abandon the truck. The three of them continue to Suez in the truck. There they find Omar's stolen automobile abandoned and wrecked by the road on a rocky beach. Negah and the second Omar continue in the truck, leaving the first Omar with the wrecked automobile. Negah gets out of the truck and hitches a ride with another truck driver after the two of them argue. She immediately begins coming on to her new driver; the film ends with the first Omar sitting sadly in his useless automobile. A radio is playing.

We have here a 27" x 29" Egyptian poster designed by Al-Khad to promote the 1986 Hossam El-Din Mostafa 118-minute color film The Racketeers [al-harafish] starring Mahmoud Yassine based on a story by Naguib Mahfouz with screenplay and dialogue by Ahmed Saleh and cinematography by Mamoun Ata. Plot Summary: In this film generations of urban poor and their families come and go; this repetitive flow is the story. Soleiman al-Nagy [Mahmoud Yassine] defeats Atris [Salah Kabil] in a stick fight, establishes himself as the local tough guy and distributes justly to the district racketeers the assets he has collected from the rich. The rich people try to get rid of him. Sania marries him after he divorces his first wife. She is able to separate him from the racketeers and draw him into wealthy circles. He opens a big agency. Khedr works with his father Soleiman at the agency. He marries Bakr Redwana, [Laila Eloui] who loves him; then he runs away from home after Bakr accuses him of disloyalty. Soleiman's father becomes ill and moves to the home of his old wife after she returns to his protection. When it becomes known that he is bankrupt Atris becomes the neighborhood tough guy again. Khedr returns and buys the agency at auction to bring dignity back to the family after overcoming Atris. He discredits Bakr Redwana, who acknowledges his brother's innocence before she dies.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Wahib Fahmy to promote the 1982 124-minute Hisham Abu El-Nasr color film The Mawardy Cafe ['ahwet al-mawardy] starring Farid Shawqi based on a story by Ahmed Galal with screenplay and dialogue by Mohsen Zayed and cinematography by Abdel Moneim Bahnassy. Plot summary: Hassanein Abu Sena [Youssef Chaban] got out of prison after killing one of the residents of his building. Fear overtook the people in his neighborhood because of his domination. Abu Sena persuaded some of the people to leave their apartments in his building in exchange for money and he converted those units into commercial shops and import-export offices. Abu Sena convinced Ghabasha [Hassan Hosny] to rent a furnished apartment to a wealthy Arab named Redwan. A journalist named Ahmad [Farouk Al-Fichawi] recorded the changes that had been happening in the neighborhood but his editor refused to publish his articles. Safrut [Abdel Salam Mohamed] liked Farawla [Nabila Ebeid] but she rejected him. He therefore quit his job working in the coffee house owned by her father al-Mawardy [Farid Shawqi] and left the neighborhood. Al-Mawardy married his mistress Ragaa after having problems with Abu Sena. Ghabasha pressured his niece Warda [Maha Osman] to marry Redwan, but on the wedding day she fled to Alexandria. She also liked her neighbor the student Mamdouh [Farid Mahmoud], but he had no feelings for her. Safrut returned to the neighborhood after becoming wealthy. Abu Sena and Safrut made an agreement with Ghabasha to kill Ahmad on the night of his marriage to Farawla. Al-Mawardy divored his wife Ragaa. Ahmad's friend Shabaan [Mamdouh Abd El Aleem] collected his articles about the neighborhood and published them in a book of memories. When Mamdouh read what Ahmed had written about him he recognized his mistake and went back to Warda in Alexandria. The two of them married in a celebration in the neighborhood. Abu Sena died at the hands of unknown murderers.

The Brave Ones (1975)

The Brave Ones [al-shaga'an] (1992) - (Mahmoud Yassine) Egyptian film poster

This film was directed by Tareq Al-Nahry with screenplay and dialogue also by Tareq Al-Nahry. Cinematography was by Ibrahim Saleh. Plot summary: In the context of the intelligence wars between Egypt and Israel a team of Egyptian intelligence men was given a secret mission to abduct a military leader in Greece to get critical information. The secret team was led by Officer Ibrahim and included Officers Mahmoud and Adel. At the same time since there was no guarantee in the matter they sent the three intelligence officers with different visas even though they were brothers. Colonel Ibrahim's daughter Noha went with him, just as Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad's wife Lobna Behgat accompanied him for a honeymoon. During the flight from Cairo to Athens Sergeant Adel met the girl Susan who was going to Greece to work as a disco musician. The official mission for the intelligence team began with the search for the Egyptian spy Fawzi who was cooperating with Israel, to catch him and take him back to Cairo, but Mossad knew about this mission and took counter measures; the Egyptian intelligence team led by Colonel Ibrahim addressed this situation shrewdly and allowed agent Fawzi, who ran an espionage network against Egypt, to abduct and torture Lobna and Noha. When one of them raped Lobna she killed herself with a knife. Colonel Ibrahim confirmed Susan's betrayal and asked her friend Sergeant Adel to kill her and the conflicts continued between the Egyptian commandos and Fawi's espionage network supported by Israeli intelligence. Colonel Ibrahim decided to avenge Egypt and Lobna and rescue Noha, then capture Fawzi to take him back to Cairo for trial.
