Torments of Love (1980) - (Madiha Kamel) Egyptian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Hassan Mazhar Gasour and Morteda Anise for the 1980 Ali Abdel-Khalek film Torments of Love based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Mostafa Moharram and starring Madiha Kamel as Madiha. Plot summary: Ismail [Salah Nazmi] discovered a relationship between his wife and his friend Salem. He notified the police so they could prove the relationship between them. The police arrived and arrested Salem, but the wife killed herself with an overdose of pills. The years passed and Ismail's son Ahmed [Imad Abdel Halim] met Salem's daughter Madiha [Madiha Kamel] at a university where they were both students. Ahmed told his father about his relationship with Madiha and how he sincerely loved her and wanted his father's approval to marry her. Ahmed's father discovered that Madiha was his friend Salem's daughter so he opposed the marriage. Ahmed had to run away with Madiha to marry her. He was obliged to work in a nightclub, but his father Ismail still tried to end the relationship. He notified Madiha's fiance Rifaat [Ahmad Khamees] (Madiha's father had agreed to their engagement). He gave Rifaat the address of the nightclub where Ahmed was working; Rifaat tried to kill Ahmed just after the wedding, but Madiha stepped into the line of fire and was killed herself.

The High [al-keif] (1985) - (Mahmoud Abdel Aziz) Egyptian film poster

This Egyptian film poster was designed by Al-Khad to promote the 1985 115-minute Ali Abdel Khalek color film The High [al-keif] starring Mahmoud Abdel Aziz with story, screenplay and dialogue by Mahmoud Abou Zeid and cinematography by Mamoun Ata. Plot summary: After Gamal (Mahmoud Abdel Aziz) failed with his studies he worked as a musician in a wedding band. His brother Salah (Yehia El-Fakharany) tried to get him to stop using narcotics and gave him a harmless substitute made in a lab. He advised him to use it and give it to his friends for the protection of their health. Gamal gave the synthetic material to a drug dealer. The drug dealer gave it to the gang leader (Fouad Khalil), who liked it and added some of the narcotic material to it. He sold the compound on the market, which reduced the demand for narcotics; then he asked Gamal to supply the quantities needed to meet the market need. He convinced him of the need to exploit the situation, especially since the compound just provided drug abusers with the illusion of a high. Gamal decided to record a vocal music tape. Salah discoverd the gang was mixing his compound with the narcotic material and decided to stop supplying them, but the gang kidnapped him and injected him with morphine until he became an addict and had to prepare the goods for them. The music cassette Gamal recorded was a hit.

Fish Market (1986) - (Ahmed Zaki) Egyptian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian promotional poster designed by Hassan Mazhar Gasour for the 1986 Ali Abdel-Khalek 120-minute color film Fish Market starring Nabila Ebeid as Jamalat and Ahmed Zaki as Ahmad based on a story by Nabil Nassar with screenplay and dialogue by Abdel Gawad Youssef and cinematography by Mamoun Ata. Plot summary: Jamalat was a widow dealing with big operators in the Alexandria fish market like Atris, Safwan and Selim. After her husband died she became a fishmonger there. The market big shots challenged her and forcibly prevented her from working, citing a law that prevents sales outside the market. Ahmad, [Ahmed Zaki] a simple worker from upper Egypt, stood by Jamalat, married her and started marketing her goods himself. Ahmad succeeded in his struggle and became a respected merchant at the market after buying his own stall. Then he denied his principles and his wife, practiced monopoly methods and moved to an upscale neighborhood. He divorced Jamalat and married Susie, [Khaloud] a woman from a wealthy family. The market leaders formed an alliance against Ahmad and assassinated him. After his death life in the market went on as usual.
