This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian one-sheet poster designed by Mohammed Abdel Aziz and Aziz for the 1974 Henry Barakat film The Clock Strikes 10 based on a story by Amin Yousseff Ghurab, screenplay and dialogue by Mohammad Mostafa Sami and starring Mahmoud Yassine as Mohammad al-Sherbini. Plot summary: Mohammad al-Sherbini was a university student working as a driver for the wealthy Abdel Maguid [Imad Hamdi]. Mohammad discovered that Abdel Maguid's wife Noura [Nahed Sherif] was cheating on him with Morad, [Mohamed Khairi] who asked him to keep it secret. Noura's brother Salah [Mohamed Nagm] wanted to marry Abdel al-Maguid's daughter Nevine [Mervat Amin] but she refused becaused she loved Mohammad. After Mohammad had a difficult and unwanted dalliance with Noura, he and Nevine decided to marry, the father blessed the relationship and the two lovers began life together.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Gasour and Ahmed Fouad for the 1961 Ibrahim Emara film For a Handful of Kids [min agle khefnet awlad] based on a story by Sami Ghanim, screenplay by Mohammad Mostafa Sami and starring Rushdy Abaza as Hassan. Plot summary: Hassan was an elementary school teacher at a school directed by Mr. Madbouly [Abdel Moneim Madbouly]. Hassan lived happily with his wife Nadia [Soheir al-Morshedy] even though they had been married seven years without having any children. Then they began to quarrel about not having children and one of Hassan's friends suggested he marry the director's sister so he could have children. He did this and kept it secret from his first wife Nadia. Then both of the women had children. Nadia had a girl and the second wife [Soheir Zaki] had a boy. He was able to meet the costs of both households, but the women kept having children until Hassan had eight. Then there were so many problems Hassan's situation became unbearable.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by an unknown artist to promote the 1967 Salah Abouseif 111-minute black-and-white film The Second Wife [الزوجة الثانية az-zawget at-tania] starring Soad Hosny based on a story by Ahmed Rushdy Saleh with screenplay and dialogue by Mohammad Mostafa Sami and Sa'd al-Din Wahba and cinematography by Abdelhalim Nasr. Plot summary: A village mayor [Salah Mansour] fancies a young woman named Fatma [Soad Hosny] in his village. There are two problems. First, his present wife Hafiza [Sanaa Gamil] does not want him to take a second wife, and second, the young woman the mayor desires already has a husband Aboul-Eyli [Shukry Sarhan] with children and they are a happy family with a lot of love for one another. The mayor does not care about these things, because he is the corrupt bad guy who already has a reputation for abusing and cheating his villagers. He forces the young woman's husband to divorce her so she can marry him, which he does, causing much pain and regret to himself, his wife and his children. The mayor marries the divorced woman and takes her into his home, but in a long series of comic evasive episodes she contrives never to sleep with him. The mayor, who was already sick, eventually dies. Fatma becomes a village hero for standing up for the village people against the mayor in his schemes to take their land, and after the mayor dies she returns to her husband, poor but happy. This is a social realist film with lots of accurate detail about life in an Egyptian village, directed by the late socialist director Salah Abouseif (1915-1996). This film may be realistic for its details about village life, but Fatma's successful evasion of the mayor's designs is probably not as realistic as the film suggests.

Plot summary: Nahed was an attractive young woman living an unstable life of financial difficulties with her mother, her father and her brother Mohammad, and she had an innocent romantic relationship with a fellow student named Essam. When a wealthy man named Salim asked her father for her hand in marriage, after much pressure from family and after finding that Essam was not willing to commit himself to a marriage, she agreed to go along, because Salim was willing to pay a bride price to her family large enough to save them from financial hardship. This meant she had to leave Egypt and her boyfriend to go to Lebanon to be with Salim in his opulent manion. Salim turned to be a corrupt and abusive liar, so she divorced him and managed with great difficulty to get herself back to Egypt, to the great distress of her family. She then married an attorney named Mamdouh, who wanted her as a trophy wife so he could get into a higher social position. She soon divorced Mamdouh and then became the mistress of a millionaire named Abbas, with whom she became an international traveler. After a few years she ran into Essam again, who was the only real love of her life and with whom she had experienced the only moments of purity she had ever known. By the time she saw Essam again she had changed so much she knew she was was no longer the person he had once known and asked him to stay away. The memories of the happy relationship she had once known with Essam were enough for her.

Plot summary: The attorney Refaat [Mahmoud Yassine] had trouble finding a nanny for his five children after they had rejected the other nanny for various reasons. He was hoping the new nanny Laila [Naglaa Fathy] would be better than her predecessor. Laila turned out to be a big success and the children loved her, which brought harmony and order to the home. Refaat fell in love with Laila and asked her to marry him; she agreed and became his wife and a mother to his children. Naglaa Fathy is lovely and does a lot of nice singing and skipping in this film as Laila, but she's a far cry from Julie Andrews.
