This is a 27.5" x 38.75" Iranian poster designed by Manouchehr Abdullahzadeh for the 1989 film Bashu, the Little Stranger written and directed by Bahram Bayzai and starring Susan Taslimi as Naii. Plot summary: During the Iran-Iraq war in the southern part of Iran a boy named Bashu [Adnan Afravian] loses his home and family to a bombing. He sneaks into the back of a truck and goes to sleep. When he wakes up the truck is much further north in a place where demolition is being used for road clearing. He runs away from the explosions and eventually finds himself on a farm being worked by Naii, whose husband is away. Naii gives Bashu food and water, but she finds they do not speak the same language. Naii is kind to Bashu and he tries to reciprocate by helping her. When Naii's husband [Parviz Poorhosseini] comes home he does not like having Bashu in the house. Bashu senses this and runs away; Naii finds Bashu sleeping in an outbuilding during a storm and brings him back.

Plot summary: A coppersmith has a daughter named Termeh. Termeh does not want to do anything. At the suggestion of his apprentice Ahmad [Amir Sheisi] her father buys her a chicken named Kakoli to give her something to do. Termeh gets used to Kakoli, but one night Kakoli runs away from a cat and turns up missing.

Plot summary: In his old age when the Bakhtiari tribe of southwestern Iran is migrating Karbala-ye Zal (Kol Zal) decides to wait for their return in a cave. He recounts the courageous exploits of his days as a young fighter, for an old woman named Dalu Sangin Mah who wanders into his cave one night as she is about to kill herself. Dalu Sangin Mah realizes Karbala-ye Zal is the same Bakhtiari man who had been in love with her in his youth and had fought over her with the son of Abbas Qoli. By the time the tribe returns both Karbala-ye Zal andDalu Sangin Mahhave died.

The first is to convince his prospective son-in-law to make a home for himself as soon as possible and remove the bride-to-be from his house, lest he banned from the old man's home. The second is the preservation of his savings, which he keeps as cash in the lining of his coat instead of in a bank. One day a thief [Akbar Abdi] comes into their apartment complex to take advantage of the old man's lack of awareness to give the slip to agents who are pursuing him. The thief grabs the coat and flees. From then on the old man, the son-in-law, the girl, the agents and the thief are all trying to get their hands on this valuable coat.

This is 26.5" x 38" poster designed by Bateni for the 1990 film Hidden Fire written and directed by Habib Kavosh and starring Ali Akbar Bahadori. This is an anti-Israeli propaganda film made in Persian for domestic consumption in Iran. It invokes the memory of the 16 September 1982 massacre at the Sabra and Shatila refugee camp in West Beirut. Plot summary: In the early 1980s at a poolside gathering in southern Lebanon Jacob, a Jew of Lebanese extraction, is killed along with a number of his associates by a group of Israelis dressed as Palestinian combatants. Jacob's sister and his daughter Sara survive the attack. The Palestinian combatants realize the goal of the Israelis is to incite public opinion against their struggle so they expose the ones who are really behind the attack. After taking part in an unsuccessful terrorist operation against Abu Khalil and his son Abu Ali, Sara realizes her Israeli fiance designed and executed the plot to kill her father. Israeli soldiers retaliate and arrest a group of Palestinian leaders, including Abu Khalil. After this incident two Palestinian combatants wipe out the Israeli Command Staff in a suicide operation.

This is a 23.5" x 39" Iranian poster designed by Manouchehr Abdollahzadeh for the 1988 film Until Sunset based on the 1886 story "How Much Land Does a Man Need?" by Leo Tolstoy, screenplay by Jafar Vali and starring Saeed Poursamimi. Plot summary: Zabih is an ill-tempered man who lives in a village with his wife. He usually solves family problems with the mayor's help. Zabih is promised he can have as much land as he can mark off from sunrise until sunset. He assiduously works on this but at the end of the day he falls off a hill and dies from exhaustion.
