Hercules Unchained 1959 Steve Reeves Egyptian one-sheet

Hercules Unchained (1959) - (Steve Reeves) Style B Egyptian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Wahib Fahmy for the 1959 Pietro Francisci film Hercules Unchained AKA Ercole e la regina di Lidia based on a story by Pietro Francisci based on the Sophocles play Aedipus at Colonus, the Aeschylus play The Seven against Thebes, screenplay by Ennio De Concini and Pietro Francisci and starring Steve Reeves as Hercules. Plot summary: Hercules is made an amnesiac because of water from a magic spring he drinks while on his way to Thebes to intervene in a quarrel between two brothers disputing the throne. He then becomes captive of Queen Omphale of Lydia [Sylvia Lopez]. Omphale makes Hercules her love slave, but everyone except Hercules, who has forgotten his own name, knows his days are numbered because Omphale will turn him into a statue when she's done with him. Young Ulysses [Gabriele Antonini] tries to help Hercules recover his memory while Iole [Sylva Koscina], the wife of Hercules, finds herself in mortal danger because Eteocles [Sergio Fantoni] plans to throw her to the wild beasts in his arena for entertainment. After remembering who he is and killing three tigers Hercules is able to rescue his wife; he then helps the army of Thebes repel mercenaries hired by Polynices. The two brothers kill each other when they fight for the throne after which the high priest Creon [Carlo D'Angelo] is made ruler by popular acclaim.

This is a 12" x 27" Italian locandina designed by Mauro Collizi for the 1962 Duccio Tessari film My Son, The Hero AKA Arrivano i titani adapted by Ennio De Concini and Duccio Tessari and starring Giuliano Gemma as Krios. This is a 13" x26" Italian locandina poster for the 1961 Sergio Leone film The Colossus of Rhodes AKA Il colosso di Rodi based on story and screenplay by Sergio Leone, Ennio De Concini, Cesare Seccia, Luciano Martino, Ageo Savioli, Luciano Chitarrini and Carlo Gualtieri and starring Rory Calhoun as Dario. Plot summary: In the year 280 BC Dario, a Greek war hero, goes to Rhodes to visit his uncle. Rhodes has just built the famous Colossus in its harbor and is planning an alliance with Phoenicia, which would be hostile to Greece. Dario joins a revolt; an earthquake destroys the Colossus right after the revolt fails.

Son of Samson (1960) - (Mark Forest) Argentine one-sheet

This is a 29" x 43" Argentine one-sheet poster for the 1960 Carlo Campogalliani film Son of Samson AKA Maciste the Mighty based on a story by Oreste Biancoli and Ennio De Concini and starring Mark Forest as Maciste. Plot summary: While the Iranians are ruling Egypt (525-480 B.C.) Prince Kenamun [Angelo Zanolli] is disturbed by the hunger and miserable living conditions of the Egyptian people. His father Pharaoh Amirteo I [Carlo Tamberlani] decides to raise an army and fight the Iranians, but his wife Queen Smedes [Chelo Alonso], who is allied with the Iranian Grand Vazir, kills him before he has a chance to do it. After Kenamun accedes to the throne Smedes drugs him and he loses control of himself. Maciste then rises as leader of a popular revolt and frees Kenamu's beloved, Nofret, [Federica Ranchi] who is about to be sold as a slave.

Hercules Unchained (R1960) - (Steve Reeves) Lebanese one-sheet

This is a 27" x 39" Lebanese poster for a 1960 rerelease of the 1959 Bruno Vailati film Hercules Unchained based on a haphazard composite of stories by Pietro Francisci, Sophocles and Aeschylus with screenplay by Ennio De Concini and Pietro Francisci and starring Steve Reeves as Hercules and Gabriele Antonini as Ulysses. Plot summary: Hercules intervenes in a quarrel between the two brothers Eteocles [Sergio Fantoni] and Polynices [Mimmo Palmara] over who will rule Thebes. During this effort he drinks from a magic spring and is hypnotized by a harem girl as she dances the Dance of Shiva. The bewitched waters of the spring cause him to lose his memory and be captured by the Lydian Queen Omphale [Sylvia Lopez], who is in the habit of turning her male captives into statues after she tires of them. Omphale makes Hercules her love slave, but everyone except Hercules, who has forgotten his own name, knows his days are numbered. Young Ulysses tries to help Hercules recover his memory while Iole [Sylva Koscina], the wife of Hercules, finds herself in mortal danger at the hands of Eteocles, who plans to throw her to the wild beasts in his arena for entertainment. L'Ombrellone (1965) - (dir: Dino Risi) Egyptian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian one-sheet made to promote the 1965 Dino Risi film L'Ombrellone (titled Play Boy Party on the poster, Weekend Italian Style as the international English title and shati al hob [the Coast of Love] as the Arabic title on the poster) based on story and screenplay by Ennio De Concini and starring Sandra Milo as Giuliana Marletti. Plot summary: It is summer and everyone in Rome is vacationing at the beach with the exception of Enrico Marletti (Enrico Maria Selerno), who is working. On weekends he drives to Rimini to meet his wife Giuliana (Sandra Milo), who is living the sweet life there with her friends.
