This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster made by an unknown designer to promote the 1967 93-minute Ahmed Sarwat color film Marriage by Airmail starring Adel Imam, Farid Shawqi and Nahed Sherif based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Farouk Said with cinematography by Ramzi Ibrahim; the film was produced by Hussein Yaqut Films and distributed by Al-Salam Films. Plot summary: Gharib [Adel Imam] and Fakri [Sameer Ghanem] were exchanging letters about Fekry going to America. Fakry was working for a cabaret owner [Farid Shawqi] even though he was harsh in his dealings with the cabaret owner's daughter Amira, [Nahed Sherif] who had decided to run away from her father's home. She went to Gharib's house to take refuge with him at a time when Fakri was writing to Gharib asking him to find him a bride. Gharib presented the idea to Amira and she agreed to it; Fakri married her by proxy so she could get away from her father and his violence. Over time Amira discovered she loved Gharib and that he had the same feelings for her. Fakri arrived in Cairo to get his bride and learned the whole story; he divorced Amira so his lifetime friend Gharib could marry her.

Man without a Heart (1960) - (Hind Rostom) Egyptian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Mohammad Abdel Aziz to promote the 1960 Seif Eddin Shawkat 76-minute black-and-white film Man without a Heart [ragal bila qalb] starring Hind Rostom based on story and screenplay by Hassan Tewfik with cinematography by Abdelhalim Nasr. Galal [Yehia Chahine] discovered his wife Zahra [Zahrat El-Ola] had betrayed him with Kamal [Shukry Sarhan] and killed him. He swore he would never again go near his wife. The years passed and the separation continued. Aida [Hind Rostom] came to the estate intending to draw Galal into her net. Galal found her lying ill on the ground and took her to his home to stay there until she could recover. She caught his son [Ahmed Ramzy], a student named Nabil, in her net, because he loved her madly. The son and the father competed to get close to Aida while Galal's wife Zahra was aware of this situation and kept silent. Zahra quickly learned that Aida was the sister of the murdered Kamal come to take revenge against her brother's killer. Aida succeeded in getting Galal to ask her to marry him, then Galal chased his son across a field with a rifle with the intent of killing him after learning Aida was running away with him. Before Galal could shoot, he was killed with a bullet fired by his wife, who wanted to get justice for herself. This is an example of one of those remarkable events often seen in movies where people otherwise not known to the audience for having any abilities with firearms unexpectedly demonstrate remarkable prowess by hitting a human target with a single fatal shot.

Shown here is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Abdel Rahman to promote the 1965 112-minute Atef Salem color film The Mamelukes [al-mamalik] starring Omar Sharif based on a story by Nairuz Abdel Malek with screenplay by Abdel Hay Adib, dialogue by Mohammad Mostafa Samy and cinematography by Abdu Nasr. Prince Sharkas was a tyrant and he only had a few ministers. Ja'far, who had a secret desire to overthrow him, was the only one who opposed him. Sharkas gave his follower Aibek the job of taking a collection from the farmers. Aibek and his men attacked the neighborhoods and killed the father of Qamar and the mother of Ahmad, who had been engaged to marry in a few days. Ahmad decided to take revenge against the prince's men at any price.

This is a 27" x 39" undated rerelease Egyptian film poster made by an unknown designer to promote the 1961 Youssef Chahine 104-minute black-and-white film A Lover's Call [neda' al-'oshaq] starring Berlanty Abdel Hamid based on a story by Abdel Hay Adib adapted from the 1946 King Vidor film Duel in the Sun with screenplay by Abdel Hay Adib and Wagih Naguib, dialogue by Behgat Kamar and cinematography by Alvisy Orphanily. Plot summary: Ward [Berlanty Abdel Hamid] was an attractive dancer in the Nile Delta village of Sonbat who found a job ginning cotton in a factory. There she caught the eye of the factory's owner Metwaly [Farid Shawqi], as well as his brother Abduh [Shukry Sarhan], but she gave her heart to Abduh. Ward and Abduh then went through a harrowing series of violent misadventures until both are killed at the hands of the Abduh's jeslous brother.

Plot summary: Ibrahim [Abdel Halim Hafez] was an actor and a musician at the beginning of his career living in a poor neighborhood. He loved a famous musician named Soheir [Shadia], who was the star of his band, and he discovered she had the same feelings for him. They surprised everyone by deciding to marry, but this did not please the band director, who tried to separate them. Soheir was surprised to discover on the night of the marrriage contract that there was a woman who claimed to be Ibrahim's wife and that she had borne his child. Soheir decided to cancel the marriage and because of her sadness her popularity faded, while Ibrahim's popularity increased and he became a famous musician. He did not forget his love for Soheir. One day Soheir saw a picture of the woman who was claiming to be Ibrahim's wife and realized she was an actress who had been trying to steal her beloved. She did not care about the woman's false claims so she went to Ibrahim's neighborhood, who welcomed her and publicly declared his return to her.

Plot summary: Mohammad Fakri [Mohamed Abdel Wahab] was a talented artist who met Nawal [Negat Ali] while he was working on his Uncle Desouqi's farm. They fell in love. He was transferred to Cairo to work as a music teacher and they exchanged letters while he lived at the home of Uncle Desouqi [Abdel Waress Assar]. He told his friend Helmy [Soleiman Naguib], who was traveling to the farm to see her, everything that had happened between him and Nawal. Uncle Desouqi died and left 20 feddans of land. Mohammad went to the farm to marry Nawal and was surprised to find that Helmy had proposed to her. Nawal refused Mohammad, married Helmy and went to Paris with him. Mohammad became a famous musician while things got worse for Helmy because he was a gambler, and he died in an accident. Nawal tried to go back to Mohammad but he refused her and she decided to drown herself. Mohammad had a change of heart and sang to Nawal the song "O You Who Are Sleeping Beneath the Ground."

Plot summary: Nadia and Soheir were living a carefree life with their parents, but an imbalance developed when the parents began showing more affection for Nadia than Soheir, to the point where Soheir suspected her parents hated her and began hating society and her sister. This feeling grew for Soheir and she even came to believe people loved her sister and hated her. The young men who liked her did not hesitate to leave her when they saw Nadia. Even the ones who had made her marriage offers withdrew them. A conflict raged between the two sisters in this atmosphere charged with anger; one of them had the innocence of angels and the other was in a wretched state unable to find her way to happiness. Soheir looked for the misery of others. Her mother died, then her father. Soheir dominated Nadia like a tyrant and exploited her sensitivities and weaknesses. Nadia became her sister's victim. She was afraid of the dark and terrified of cats; she was also sure she was the one who had killed her mother and father and was the cause of her sister's misery. In this state of affairs, in a thrilling finale Soheir attempted to murder Nadia, fought off Nadia's rescuers in a gunfight, then paid the price for her crimes. Nadia got married to the man who loved her.
