Rose and Thorn (1970) - (Nahed Sherif) Egyptian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Moaty and Wael for the 1970 Kamal Salaheddin musical Rose and Thorn starring Nahed Sherif as Basima based on a novel by Fathy Abdel Hady and screenplay and dialogue by Ramona. Plot summary: Hassan Darwish Osman [Mohamed Rushdy] was a young man from Tanta who had loved his neighbor's daughter Basima for a long time. It was a love that would inevitably end in marriage; he had agreed to this the night of his sister's wedding. At the time he did not realize Basima was pregnant. When Hassan went to Cairo his wallet, cash and credit cards were stolen. The thief [Farouq Ali] was killed in a traffic accident and at first everyone thought Hassan had been killed too. The police even said that to his family. When Basima heard Hassan had been killed she tried to hide her pregnancy, but had trouble finding a way to get out of her house. She later confessed to a taxi driver named Mishmish [Saeed Saleh] what had happened; he agreed to marry her after hearing her story. Then Hassan turned up unexpectedly on the wedding night and Basima married him instead.

Half a Million (1985) - (dir: Mohamed Khan) Egyptian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 38.5" poster for the 1985 Mohamed Khan film Half a Million written by Bachir El Dik and Mohamed Khan and starring Mahmoud Abdel Aziz as Youssef. Plot Summary: Serag [Yehia El-Fakharany] cashed a check for a half million pounds at the Transfer Bank company with his girlfriend Kawsar. The employee Youssef and the thief Rafai [Saeed Saleh] wanted to get the bag with the money in it. They grabbed the bag and took it to a deserted location but they found it had been emptied of cash. They agreed to look for the original bag. Serag killed Kawsar. Then he lived in a hotel with the cash. They sent a girl to him to take the money from him. There was a confrontation and they all died. Youssef found the case containing the half million.

Tea Seller (1990) - (Dina) Egyptian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Abdel Ghani for the 1990 Ismail Hassan film Tea Seller based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Atef Rizq and starring Dina as Afaf. Plot summary: Afaf worked in a coffee shop after retiring from dancing and she married Morsi [Hussein El-Sherbini]. Mansour wanted her and falsely accused Morsi of drug dealing. He succeeded in splitting up Morsi and Afaf. Morsi divorced her and she went back to dancing. She got involved bringing in drugs from abroad without realizing it and proved Morsi's innocence. Afaf learned the truth about Mansour and he and his assistants were arrested. Afaf went back to Morsi.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian one-sheet poster designed by Hassan Mazhar Gasour and Dar Hani for the 1974 Henry Barakat film The Most Beautiful Days of My Life AKA Agmal Ayam Hayati based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Abdel Hay Adib and starring Naglaa Fathy as Hoda. Plot summary: Hoda hid one night on a ship bound for Beirut, where she met Samir [Hussein Fahmy]. She did not tell him she was running away from her father Gamal [Imad Hamdi] so she could marry her Lebanese lover Rafiq who was waiting for her in Beirut, that her father was offering a reward to whoever could find her or that the people looking for her were waiting at the port. Samir helped her hide in a chest above the hold and then helped her get away. They then explored Lebanon and Samir learned the truth about her. He got her to confess and they fell in love. He decided to take her to her father so they could marry. When they got there the father realized his daughter loved Samir and encouraged her to marry whomever she loved, especially since Samir was refusing the reward he had been offering. On the night of the marriage to Rafiq the father helped and encouraged his daughter to go away and marry Samir. Then the two boarded a ship to Canada so they could marry there and begin a new life.

Three on the Chopping Block (1994) - (Mahmoud Yassine) Egyptian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian one-sheet poster designed by al-Khad for the 1994 film Three on a Chopping Block AKA thalatha ala maedet al-dam written and directed by Medhat El Sebaie and starring Mahmoud Yassine as Chief Prosecutor Omar Adly. Plot summary: In Port Said at the Mediterranean end of the Suez Canal, a wealthy businessman named No'man al-Brins [Saeed Saleh] struck a small fishing boat while sailing his yacht with his wife Susu [Elham Shaheen], killing the two occupants of the fishing boat. His lawyer proved his innocence despite testimony against him by some of the local fishermen, but Chief Prosecutor Omar, who also happened to be a drug smuggler, was undeterrred and resolved to get No'man dead or alive.
