This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Hassan Mahar Gasour for the 1984 Ahmed Al-Sabawy film I killed al-Hanash based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Abdel Hay Adib and starring Adel Imam as Hassanein. Plot summary: Al-Hanash [Youssef Chaban] oppresses both Hassanein and Barhouma [Sa'eed Saleh]. When Hassanein goes to Greece to work he marries his girlfriend Aziza [Safia El Emari] after she tells him she is pregnant with their child. Al-Hanash hires men in Greece to fight Hassanein.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster for the 1989 Ashraf Fahmy film The Night and its Treachery based on a story by Naguib Mahfouz, screenplay by Ahmed Saleh and starring Nour El-Sherif as Salah. Plot summary: The attorney Mohseb who had sold his conscience hired a petty thief named Salah to steal critical documents from the storage of one of the owners of a company to get information about some of the important persons who were working with the company. The attorney sensed Salah's power and got rid of him through another thief named Shaqroun, who carried out the attorney's plan to drop Salah and get him imprisoned, then to get the better of Shaqroun's wife Senia to divide the spoils from the betrayal. When Salah got out of prison he decided to take revenge against the attorney Mohseb, his friend Shaqaroun and his wife Senia, but he died before he could carry out the plan.

This is a 26.5" x 38.25" Egyptian poster for the 2007 Mohamed Khan film In the Heliopolis Flat based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Wessam Soliman and starring Ghada Adel as Nagwa Nour. Plot Summary: Nagwa was a student from Minia attending a school on the coast who became friends with Abla Tahani, a music teacher who was fired from her job. Nagwa continued to write to Abla Tahani about music and new songs, but a long time passed and Abla Tahani did not answer Nagwa's letters. When Nagwa was in Cairo on a trip with her colleagues she had a great desire to see Abla Tahani to see how she was doing, but when she went to Abla's Heliopolis address she found someone else named Yehia [Khaled Abol Nega] living there. Yehia did not know anything about Abla Tahani. Abla went to see Yehia more than once, then took the train back to the coast. These visits led Yehia to his own investigation about Tahani.

Half a Million (1985) - (dir: Mohamed Khan) Egyptian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 38.5" poster for the 1985 Mohamed Khan film Half a Million written by Bachir El Dik and Mohamed Khan and starring Mahmoud Abdel Aziz as Youssef. Plot Summary: Serag [Yehia El-Fakharany] cashed a check for a half million pounds at the Transfer Bank company with his girlfriend Kawsar. The employee Youssef and the thief Rafai [Saeed Saleh] wanted to get the bag with the money in it. They grabbed the bag and took it to a deserted location but they found it had been emptied of cash. They agreed to look for the original bag. Serag killed Kawsar. Then he lived in a hotel with the cash. They sent a girl to him to take the money from him. There was a confrontation and they all died. Youssef found the case containing the half million.

Shaaban the Thief (1980) - (Adel Imam) Egyptian one-sheet

Shown here is a 26.75" x 38.5" Egyptian poster made to promote the 1980 102-minute Hanry Barakat color film Shaaban the Thief AKA sha'ban taht al-sefr starring Adel Imam as Shaaban based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Samir Abdelazim with cinematography by Said Al-Shiemy. Plot summary: Shaaban is a poor worker who loves his colleague Zeinab [Essad Youniss], but is unable to provide her with an apartment. He tries to get a loan of 1000 pounds for this purpose from the wealthy al-Ghatrifi Bey [Imad Hamdi] but is refused. When al-Ghatrifi dies shortly thereafter his relatives try to take his wealth but are unable to do so legally, so they talk Shaaban into impersonating al-Ghatrifi's son with forged papers so he can get the the money from the government. He agrees to this but insists on being paid half the total inheritance of 6.5 million pounds.

This is a 53" x 78" Egyptian four-piece billboard poster designed by Morteda Anise for the 1994 Nader Galal film The Terrorist [al-erhabi] written by Lenine El-Ramli and starring Adel Imam as Ali Abd al-Zaher. Plot summary: When Ali Abd al-Zaher is hit by a car after assassinating an army officer under a directive from his spiritual leader Brother Seif [Ahmed Rateb], he receives medical care from Dr. Fouad Masoud, [Mohamed El Dafrawy] the father of the driver, who lives in a wealthy part of Cairo. While under the doctor's care Ali tries to conceal his contempt for the Western lifestyles he sees around him among the upper class Egyptians. The film was seen as an attack on Islam by many in Egypt; Adel Imam remained an outspoken supporter of Hosni Mubarak until the end of his regime in 2011.

This is a 27.5" x 39" Egyptian poster for the 2005 Sherif Mandour film Sorry We Are Being Tortured starring Ahmad Adam based on a screenplay by Youssef Maaty. Plot summary: After watching the collapse of the twin towers of the World Trade Center, El Armooty and his son Wahid go to Iraq. During the war the father has to look for his son in Baghdad because he has been jailed there. The father's personality is a comic parody of an Egyptian farmer. He brags he is friends with Kofi Annan, Tony Blair and George W. Bush and has been invited to the White House. This was the first Egyptian film to criticize President Bush [Brent Mendenhall].

Downtown Girls (2005) - (dir: Mohamed Khan) Egyptian one-sheet

Plot summary: Yasmin (Menna Shalabi) and Jumana (Hend Sabri) were friends who worked in shops in downtown Cairo. Yasmin worked for a hairdresser and Jumana worked in a dress shop. They both lived in simple social circumstances. One day they met two boys on the metro, Samir (Khaled Abol Naga) who worked as a cook in a hotel and Othman (Mohamed Nagati) who worked at a telephone company. The relationship developed slowly. At first, in one of several incidents in which she told lies, Yasmin told the boys her name was Jumana and her friend's name was Yasmin, but the relationship continued and the boys thought they could get the girls easily. Samir introduced his girl (Yasmin) to his father and the father was comfortable with this relationship, but Jumana did not like Othman's narrow-mindedness and told him she did not want to get married. The friendship continued between the two girls even though Yasmin married Samir and had a son with him. The film's title song is performed by Riko as an event at a recording studio.
