Cargo (1988) - (Jahangir Almasi) Iranian poster

This is a 19.5" x 27.5" Iranian poster for the 1988 Sirus Alvand film Cargo written by Gholamreza Moosavi and starring Jahangir Almasi. Plot summary: Ali Danesh, an archaeologist with the Ministry of Culture and Art, was trying to dig up a 3000-year-old collection of tremendous value. Danesh informed some newspaper journalists about the discovery. The heads of the ministry, who wanted to seize the collection, reprimanded Danesh for informing the newspapers and they took steps with some foreigners to sell the collection. On the other hand General Azadi, who was collecting ancient artifacts for his personal museum and a broker named Nosrat were knocking themselves out to acquire the collection. Azadi, who had more influence than others, took control the collection despite the efforts of Danesh, and Nosrat absconded with it to get it into General Azadi's hands with a new transaction. The general and Nosrat were making a deal but before reaching the site for the talks Nosrat told his mother where the collection was located so she could make it available to Ali Danesh in case of danger. Danesh obtained some of the items discovered and buried them to keep them out of the hands of Azadi and the brokers. Azadi, who still wanted to get the collection, knocked out Danesh and was killed by Nosrat.

Plot summary: Masoud Mehrju is planning to leave the country and abandon his wife Parvaneh Mahan [Katayoun Riahi] and their child. Before the separation they take a trip to see a relative. On the way they pick up a stranger [Dariush Arjmand] on the roadside who has been injured in an accident. He forces them at gunpoint to take him to his home in the beautiful mountain village of Paeezan. The stranger dies before they get there, but first he says something to Masoud that causes him to change his mind about leaving the country. He goes back to living as before.

This is a 27" x 29" Iranian poster designed by Heddat for the 1985 Mohammad Motevaselani film Mirza Norooz's Shoes written by Dariush Farhang and Susan Taslimi and starring Ali Nassirian as Mirza Norooz. Plot summary: In this comedy set in premodern Iran Mirza Norooz is a pharmacist who is unwilling to discard his old worn-out shoes and buy new ones. This causes the people in his town to ridicule him and makes him unfit to appear at public functions. His wife and children are no longer able to tolerate the situation. They have left him and made the purchase of new shoes the condition for their return. Mirza finally decides to buy new shoes with much bitterness. He tries to discard his old worn-out shoes, but they cause problems for him no matter what he does with them. Things get so bad for him that he is almost beheaded by mistake. He finally gets relief when his old shoes are publicly burned. He then goes back to a peaceful life with his wife and children, who have come back home.

This is a 27" x 38.5" Iranian poster for the 1986 Yadollah Samadi film The Bus written by Mahmoud Dowlatabadi and Dariush Farhang and starring Hadi Eslami as Ne'mat. Plot summary: The people in a village have been divided into upper and lower groups (Heydari and Ne'mati). The leader of the Ne'matis sells his salt mine to the village head man, who exacerbates the rancor between the two groups, and buys a used bus for use transporting passengers. The arrival of the bus in the village undercuts the passenger transport business for the Heydaris and intensifies the conflicts. Meanwhile the village head man encourages the leader of the Heydaries to sell him his mill and then buy the bus. The tensions keep escalating. Intermediaries and advice from the village teacher and its elder are of no value. The lack of passengers and the poor business cause Ne'mat Khan to fall behind on his payments and when the sellers of the used bus come to the village to repossess it Ne'mat Khan goes after the village head man with a club and demands the return of his salt mine. Heydar Khan and the people of the village also stand before the village head man in support of Ne'mat. The village head man returns the salt mine and the mill. The old hostility becomes friendship when Ne'mat's daughter marries Heydar's son.

Javad is in financial difficulties and has no hope for his daughter's improvement, but Atefeh is heartened by encouragement from their child's physician. He tells her an experienced surgeon may be able to solve theproblem and gives her his contact information. Mansour, the brother of Mohammad and Haj Amu, the owner of the house, suspects the renters and searches all the rooms in The Wasteland. He does not find anything until it becomes clear that the thief is none other than the owner of the television.
