Labyrinth (1986) - (David Bowie) US one-sheet
This is a 27" x 41" US one-sheet for the 1986 Jim Henson fantasy film Labyrinth based on a story by Brian Froud, Dennis Lee and Jim Henson with screenplay by Terry Jones and starring David Bowie as Jareth the Goblin King. According to Wikipedia, the owl in the film's opening sequence is the first use of a realistic CGI animal in a film. Plot summary: When 15-year-old Sarah's [Jennifer Connelly] father and stepmother [Shelley Thompson and Christopher Malcolm] leave her at home to babysit her little brother Toby [Toby Froud], she tells him a story in an unsuccessful effort to stop his crying and put him to sleep. The elements of her story come to life when Jareth the Goblin King invisibly emerges from her fantasy world, steals Toby and hides him in a castle surrounded by a labyrinth. Jareth then appears and gives Sarah 13 hours to navigate the maze and bring Toby back out. With unlikely help from a host of unusual beasts and bizarre characters, Sarah finally solves the maze, evades the deadly, grossly flatulent Bog of Eternal Stench, overcomes Jareth's guard corps, recovers Toby from Jareth's warren of anti-gravity stone stairs and neutralizes Jareth by announcing to him he has no power over her.
