Leviathan (1989) - (Peter Weller) US one-sheet
This is a 27" x 40" US one-sheet poster designed by John Alvin for the 1989 George P. Cosmatos science fiction film Leviathan based on a story by David Peoples, screenplay by Jeb Stuart and starring Peter Weller as Steven Beck. Plot summary: Leviathan is the name of a Soviet shipwreck found by a diver nicknamed "Sixpack" [Daniel Stern] while working outside the deep sea station of an undersea mining operation led by geologist Steven Beck. The crew recovers a safe from the wreck containing the captain's video log, where the captain notes medical problems the members of his crew were having. Sixpack dies the next day because of mysterious lesions that appear on his back. Another member of the mining crew, Bridget Bowman [Lisa Eilbacher], begins to suffer from the same ailment and soon also dies. After she dies her body begins to merge with Sixpack's body while they are being kept in sickbay. It dawns on the miners that Leviathan had been a laborary whose crew was being used as experimental subjects for mutagens; Leviathan was scuttled when the experiment got out of control. The mutagens have now begun working their way through the bodies of the undersea mining crew. Then the crew members learn from a computer network news report that their employer has written them all off as accidental death victims.
