This is a 13" x 28" Italian locandina poster for the 2002 Niki Caro film Whale Rider based on the 1987 book of the same title by Witi Ihimaera and starring Keisha Castle-Hughes as Paikea. Plot summary: Pai [Keisha Castle-Hughes] is an 11-year-old member of the Whangara people of east New Zealand who belives she is destined to be the new chief, but she is not male and as a female she must overcome a thousand years of tradition to convince her people.
