Father of the Girls (1979) - (Farid Shawqi) Egyptian one-sheet
This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Mohammad Abdel Aziz and Morteda Anise for the 1979 Tayseer Aboud film Father of the Girls AKA abu al-banat based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Tayseer Aboud and Bachir El Dik and starring Farid Shawqi as Sayed Ahmed al-Nesa'. Plot summary: Sayed was working a low-level government job and living with his four daughters Samira [Aida Riad], Mona [Madiha Kamel], Safa [Rawa El-Kateb] and Laila [May Abdel Nabi]. Mona was interested in a wealthy young man named Medhat [Mahmoud Kabil] at about the time her father was being pushed out of his government job despite years of faithful service. A man named Hussein [Mohammad Hamdi] working at the government's district office was arrested for smuggling. Sayed killed him, was arrested and sentenced to three years in prison. Mona and Medhat married and had a monotonous life together. She moved in with one of her friends, who led her into deviant behavior. Sayed got out of prison after serving his time, very upset about what had happened to Mona. When she saw him, Mona jumped out of a window and killed herself.
