This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Abdel Aziz and Wahib Fahmy for the 1975 Hussein Kamal film Love in the Rain based on a story by Naguib Mahfouz, screenplay and dialogue by Mamdouh El Leithy and starring Mervat Amin. Plot summary: Hassan the cinematographer opened his home to many different segments of society. It served both as a nightclub and a place of debauchery; he kept both functions going in earnest. He therefore needed to find a home for this purpose, and this is what Aliat and Senia did for him because they needed money. There was a close relationship between Aliat and Senia. Senia's brother Marzouq courted Aliat and the officer Ibrahim courted Senia. The film director Mohamed Reshwan met Marzouq and offered him work opposite the film star Fetna, who found Marzouq to be the right man for her and began flirting with him. Meanwhile the director Adel thought he deserved the artist Fetna, but she quickly married Marzouq after his courtship of Aliat fell apart, who had gone back to Hassan's house to engage in lewd behavior. Adel decided to take revenge against Marzouq and Fetna and he disfigured Marzouq's face. Life became impossible between Marzouq and Fetna. He divorced her and went back to Aliat, whom he married after forgiving her for her past.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian one-sheet poster designed by Al-Khad for the 1990 Hussein Kamal film Light of Her Eyes based on the novel by Naguib Mahfouz, screenplay and dialogue by Wahid Hamid and starring Adel Adham as Deibis. Plot Summary: Deibis killed his rival Hosouma. Hosouma's widow gave birth to a daughter named Nour [Fifi Abdou] at the very moment Deibis was killing him. Nour's mother hid her daughter and educated her. After the death of the mother the daughter found herself alone but still remembering her past and her desire for revenge against Deibis. Nour married her cousin Mohsen [Abdel Salam Mohamed], who tried to provoke bad behavior in her. This got her put in prison for indecency. After she served her time she got a divorce. She decided to get a job in Deibis's factory to get revenge against him. Deibis made advances to Nour but she rebuffed him and he fired her. Nour then became a professional dancer; Deibis found her, offered to marry her and confessed to his crime. She told him who she really was and after many years Deibis was arrested and had to pay for his crime.

This film was directed by Hussein Kamal based on a story by Tharwat Abaza, with screenplay and dialogue by Sabry Ezzat; the cinematography was done by Ahmed Khorshed; it is on Ahmad Al-Hadari's 2007 list of the 100 most important Egyptian films. The poster was designed by Mohamed Hussein. Plot Summary: Atris the grandson became the image of his grandfather in cruelty, violence, tyranny and crime. He ruled the life of his village with the terror he imposed upon its inhabitants. He had loved Fouada since she was a child but she refused him after he came to resemble his grandfather in spirit and action. Atris courted Fouada and asked her father for her hand in marriage but Fouada refused the marriage. Her father feared Atris's anger, and instead of announcing her refusal of the marriage he announced her agreeent to it. Atris was overjoyed when he heard this news, but Sheikh Ibrahim incited the people against Atris and his gang, declaring that his marriage to Fouada had been cancelled. Ignoring Atris's orders, Fouada allowed water to flow into the lands of the farmers after he had denied it to them. The people defied Atris and his gang and burned his mansion while he was in it.

Plot Summary: This is the story of a simple Egyptian worker Anis [Imad Hamdi], who dislikes the hypocrisy of the Egyptian government and the illiteracy of the Egyptian public. He tries to escape the problems in Egypt by smoking the drug shisha. Anis meets Ragab [Ahmed Ramzi], a former student, who invites him aboard a small boat on the Nile. There Anis meets other lower- and middle-class Egyptians who are also smoking shisha for the same reasons he does. At the end Anis decides to stop smoking shisha but is soon left alone and deranged in the streets--almost everyone else in Egypt is stoned!

Plot summary: The story's events begin in the days leading up to the 1967 six-day war. A quarrel breaks out on a crowded bus between two acquaintance passengers named Gaber [Adel Imam] and Marzouq [Abdel Moneim Madbouly] and the bus conductor. Gaber and Marzouq are eventually jailed for their conduct. A group of arrested political dissidents later joins them in the jail. They are all transferred to another holding facility and accused of distributing publications calling for the overthrow of the government; of course Gaber and Marzouq refuse to sign confessions since they have been accidentally grouped with the dissidents. They are not believed, brutally flogged, tortured and forced to confess to crimes of which they are not guilty. Marzouq is later killed by gunfire from guards during a prison revolt. The title of the film is a line Marzouq repeats several times while pleading his innocence under interrogation. This film is widely understood as a fierce indictment of oppression under corrupt Arab governments.

Plot summary: Sayeda [Shadia] suffered from torment and cruelty after her mother died as a result of the way she was treated by her father's wife. She took a job as a maid for the family of Abbas [Salah Kabil], who was interested in her and pursued her. She fled his home and took a job with the family of Hamdi al-Samaduni [Mahmoud Yassine]. This family treated her with love and kindness. Sayeda fell in love with Hamdi, but she soon learned he was planning to marry another girl. She therefore decided to marry Alam Marghama [Adly Kasseb], a thug and a seller of soft drinks, but later got into conflict with him. She bore his child, but ran away from him because of his violence. In this midst of this suffering she came under the influence of a pimp who got her into a brothel. There she saw Abbas, who had come to a whorehouse for the first time in his life. They reconciled and married, and she bore his son. Then Hamdi arrived and declared his love for her, there were more conflicts with Abbas and she was forced by court order to move into a marital obedience dwelling with him. When their child died she demanded and received a divorce from Abbas. After a short time Sayeda herself became ill and died with Hamdi at her bedside.

Plot summary: This film is epic soap opera featuring a long convoy of unhappy relationships, distraught relatives and manipulative spouses backed with a maudlin soundtrack. Dr. Hashem [Mahmoud Yassine] is a successful physician who meets many women because of his profession, among them Amina [Magda], who has recently divorced. Amina has loved Dr. Hashem since before her marriage and has been unable to forget him even though he has always told her he was not created for marriage, so she goes to see him at his apartment. Dr. Hashem asks Amina to leave because he is afraid her presence in his apartment will hurt his reputation. This is devastating to Amina, but she does as requested. Hesham proposes marriage to a patient named Nagwa [Naglaa Fathy] but she refuses because she is already in a common law relationship with another man [Salah Nazmi], which is not going well. Amina marries someone else [Hamdy Ahmed] but that marriage fails because her heart is not in it, and she goes back to Hesham. Hesham does not reject her but remains involved with Nagwa without telling her about it. There is a scene in a public place when she sees them together, etcetera etcetera.

Plot summary: A group of lost youth were involved in drug abuse and crime and they had committed a murder. Nadia [Lalia Eloui] was the most prominent among them. She was in love with Samir but he refused to marry her because she was too poor. She had to go away to marry a rich man, but it only lasted three months, and when she returned she found her father had lost his job, and she had also lost hers. She took up prostitution and began associating with a bad group of people who would use drugs together to forget the miserable realities of their lives. Among these people was the sexually impotent Ahmad, who believed drugs might cure him. Another was Talaat, a corrupt court worker who illegitimately sold judicial documents. There was also an unemployed man named Abbas who had married a wealthy cafe owner and then killed her to get her money. Samir was unable to find happiness with his wife, whom he did not love, so he broke into the gathering of drug users to be with Nadia, whom he did love, but he refused to tell them his story. They forced him to take an overdose of heroin, which killed him; then they they threw his body into the Nile. Nadia confessed to the police she had been with the drug users and had been responsible for Samir's death.

This is a 27" x 39" undated rerelease Egyptian one-sheet poster made to promote the 1969 142-minute Hussein Kamal color film My Father is up the Tree [abi fawq al-shagarah] based on a story by Ihsan Abd al-Qudus with screenplay by Ihsan Abd al-Qudus, Sa'deddine Wahba and Youssef Francis, dialogue by Ihsan Abd al-Qudus and Sa'eddine Wahba and cinematography by Wahid Farid. Plot summary: A group of university students went to Alexandria for summer vacation.Two of the students, a couple named Adel [Abdel Halim Hafez] and Amal [Mervat Amin], had a disagreement; then Adel fell in love with a much older worldly-wise nightclub dancer in town named Ferdoos [Nadia Lutfi]. Ferdoos invites Adel to live with her, gives him money and says she loves him, but he soon learns she has other men. Amal notices Adel's disappearance but does not know what has happened until one of Adel's friends finds him and tells her. Adel and Ferdoos fly to Lebanon together for a few dancing and singing scenes in various touristic settings. After Adel and Ferdoos return from Lebanon, Ferdoos is obliged to go back to hustling men to meet her expenses, for which Adel is not prepared. When he tries to go back to the gang at the beach, they all reject him and he is unable to restart his relationship with Amal. Adel's father [Imad Hamdi], having no word from his son, goes to Alexandria looking for him. There he meets one of the bar women and becomes involved with her, as Adel had done. One of Adel's friends from the beach gang finds him and tells him what his father is doing, and that his friends at the beach are willing to make amends. When he finds his father he tells him of his experiences and that he has learned from them. With sympathetic intervention from Ferdoos, father and son are reconciled and Adel reestablishes his relationship with Amal.
