My Wife, the Director General (1966) - (Shadia) Egyptian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster for the 1966 Fatin Abdel Wahab film My Wife the Director General written by Abdel Hamid Gouda El Sahhar and Saad Eldin Wahba and starring Shadia as Esmat. Plot summary: Hussein Omar [Salah Zulfikar] was surprised when his wife Esmat was made director general of the construction company where he was working. He concealed his marriage to the director general but he was forced to admit it later when friction developed between them over trivialities. Esmat tried to have a new honeymoon with her husband, while her husband asked for a transfer to her department so he could be a witness to the value of her work.

And Love Returned (1961) - (Samia Gamal) Egyptian one-sheet

This 1960 Egyptian black-and-white film was directed by Fatin Abdel Wahab, screenplay by Mohamed Abu Youssef, dialogue by Amin Yussef Ghurab, cinematography Aly Hassan; it tells the story of a cabaret dancer in Alexandria named Leila [Samia Gamal]. Many of the customers liked her but she resisted their offers of marriage and requests that she become their mistress. She had one importunate pursuer named Hamada [Ahmed Mazhar] whom she always resisted. He was shocked when she married another man named Abbas [Mahmoud El-Meliguy], with whom she ran the cabaret after they were married. Hamada, shocked and disappointed, disappeared. Then Abbas apparently died in a fire on his boat. Hamada returned and this time she accepted him. Abbas, who had not actually died, came back and tried to separate them but could not do so.

When We Love (1967) - (Nadia Lutfi) Egyptian one-sheet

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Mohammed Abdel Aziz and Hassan Mazhar Gasour to promote the 1967 Fatin Abdel Wahab film When We Love [endma naheb] starring Nadia Lutfi and Rushdy Abaza based on a story by Mohamed El-Tabei with screenplay and dialogue by Hussein El-Mohandess and cinematography by Wadid Serri. Plot summary: Ahmed [Rushdy Abaza] is a swimming champion who has the attention of most of the beautiful women around him, but his choice among them is Madiha [Nadia Lutfi], whom he plans to marry. Ahmed has a heart attack and his physician advises him marriage will be difficult and that he should avoid swimming. Ahmed tries to keep his love away to avoid marrying her, but he cannot stand to see her in pain, so he hides the truth from her; he pretends to be in a relationship with another woman named Layla [Soheir El-Bably] to discourage Madiha; Layla takes the relationship seriously and Madiha is not deterred. When he goes back to swimming he forgets what the doctor said and prepares for a championship race. At this point he tells Madiha the truth about his illness. This shocks her and she tries to keep him from doing the race. He insists and ends up winning. However his weak heart stops as he is receiving his prize and he dies with his trophy in his arms, leaving Madiha and Layla shocked and brokenhearted.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster for the 1959 Fatin Abdel Wahab film The Big Brother based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Ali El Zorkani and starring Farid Shawqi as Awad. Plot summary: Big brother Awad took care of his family including his mother, [Ferdoos Mohammed] his brother Ahmed [Ahmed Ramzi] and his niece Dawlat [Farida Fahmy]. The family thought he was working as a respectable tradesman but he was actually the head of a narcotics gang. He was loved by Ruhia, [Hend Rostom] a dancer who also worked with him in the narcotics trade. Ruhia had a great desire to marry Awad but he refused. She then became interested in Awad's brother Ahmed who was in his final year of law school.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Wael for the 1968 Fatin Abel Wahab film Happiness Hotel [فندق السعادة] with story, screenplay and dialogue by Faruq Sabri and starring Nadia El Guindy as Nagwa. The film was made in Syria. Plot summary: Ahmed Bey [Ahmed Ramzy] went to the airport to catch a plane to England, but the flight was delayed. When he went back home to his mansion he found his domestic help had converted it to a hotel and were renting it to tourists. The servants changed everything back the way it was but when Ahmed came back later the same night he found Mona [Shams El-Baroudy] and Magda [Nadia El Guindy] sleeping there. They attacked him because they thought he was a thief, but later it became clear that he was the owner of the house and that Nagwa was in love with his servant Saeed [Shoushou].

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Khalil and Wahib Fahmy to promote the 1966 Fatin Abdel Wahab film Apple of their Eye. Plot summary: Galila was a young girl who lived with her mother's husband. He was always making her steal from the customers at a tavern he managed, where her sister was a dancer. Galila decided to stop stealing. One night she fled the tavern and went to a distant village. She turned up at the home of Youssef Bey who had taken her in to work in his home. Galila's presence soon caused many problems for she was a beautiful girl who attracted the attention of both the father Youssef and the son Hassan, who worked as a veterinarian, as well as Shaaban the school superintendent who tried to rape her. They all wanted to get close to Galila. Shaaban discoverd the truth about Galila and she found herself surrounded by harsh language. The father and the son fell in love with her. Galila decided to leave the farm. Hassan was hurt. Galila returned to her mother's husband leaving an open question at the end of the film: would she marry Hassan or not?

Pictured is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Studio Adly to promote the 1957 Fatin Abdel Wahab 87-minute black-and-white film Ismail Yassine in the Navy [اسماعيل يس في الاسطول] starring Ismail Yasseen based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Hassan Tewfik with cinematography by Abdel Aziz Fahmy. Plot summary: Ismail [Ismail Yasseen] was a simple boy who fell in love with his cousin Nadia [Zahrat El-Ola] in the Al-Anfushi neighborhood. He asked her to marry him, but the aunt [Zeinat Sedki] opposed the marriage because she had promised the girl in marriage to an older teacher, Abbas Afash [Mahmoud El-Meliguy]. The girl asked Ismail to join the Navy because she had friends there. Ismail did this and formed good friendships with two them [Abdel Moneim Ismail and Ahmed Ramzy] while maintaining regular correspondence with Nadia. His comrades in the Navy were sad when they heard Nadia had became engaged to Abbas Afash, and they gave Ismail some money so he could go marry her himself. Then they all descended on the Al-Anfushi neighborhood and began fighting with the Afash's friends. This spoiled the wedding and Ismail married his sweetheart after the military police arrested the troublemakers.

Shown here is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Studio Mahmoud Niqula Waliber to promote the 1960 104-minute Fatin Abdel Wahab film They're Driving Me Crazy [hayugannanuni] starring Samia Gamal and Ismail Yasseen based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Abdel Moneim Madbouly with cinematography by Ibrahim Adel. Ismail [Ismail Yasseen] has to send his sick son and his wife to Alexandria. During their absence he helps a police inspector [Tewfik El Dekn] investigate the murder of an actress [Karima] who had been his client in the hair salon where he worked. He helps expose the gang responsible for the crime and receives a reward for his efforts before his son and wife return from Alexandria.

The Secret Police (1956) - (Ismail Yasseen) Egyptian one-sheet

Shown here is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Magdi William to promote the 1956 97-minute Fatin Abdel Wahab black-and-white film The Secret Police [al-bolis al-serri] starring Ismail Yasseen based on a story by Hashem Gom'ah with screenplay and dialogue by Ali El Zorkani and cinematography by Klelio. Plot summary: Esmail Effendi [Ismail Yasseen] was a police private who had the job of escorting a crazy person to a hospital for the mentally ill, but the crazy person got away from him. Ismail went to his uncle Abed [Abdel Salam Al Nabulsy] to get his help resolving the difficulty. The uncle decided he would take the crazy person's place at the hospital for the mentally ill, and then try to escape from the hospital. Ismail was then transferred to the anti-crime office where he had to work with Sergeant Major Bakir in his search for an unknown thief. Ismail and Bakir disguised themselves as Spaniards and infiltrated the gang. After a series of adventures they arrested the gang and Ismail was promoted to sergeant and received a reward, which he gave to his fiance Waza. When the crazy person was arrested Uncle Abed succeeded in proving that he was not crazy and got out of the hospital.

And Love Returned (1961)

And Love Returned [wa 'ada al-hob] (1961) - (Samia Gamal) Egyptian undated rerelease film poster

This film was directed by Fatin Abdel Wahab, screenplay by Mohamed Abu Youssef, dialogue by Amin Yussef Ghurab, cinematography Aly Hassan; it tells the story of a cabaret dancer named Lola (Samia Gamal). Many of the customers liked her but she resisted their offers of marriage or requests that she become their mistress. She had one importunate pursuer (Ahmed Mazhar) whom she always resisted. This one was was shocked when she married another man (Mahmoud El-Meliguy), with whom she later ran the cabaret after they were married. The shocked and disappinted young suitor disappeared. Then the husband apparently died in a fire on his boat. The young suitor returned to reaappear in the life of the dancer, and this time she accepted him. The husband, who had not actually died, returned and tried to separate the two of them but could not do so.

Girls and the Summer (1960)

This was a three-part film, each part a different cast, different story, different director, each a story by the writer Ihsan Abdul-Qudus. There was a separate poster for each story. Each poster had the same title Girls and the Summer [al-banat wal-seif] with the secondary designations first story, second story, third story. The most notable of the three was the third story, which featured Abdel Halim Hafez, Zizi El-Badrawy and Soad Hosny. All three segments were photographed by cinematographer Wahid Farid.
