Plot summary: In the year 1946 in Port Said Enayat [Samiha Ayoub] is
involved with the smuggler Amin, [Hassan Hamed] who goes to prison.
When he gets out, he wants revenge and gets close to Enayat's husband
Ahmed [Imad Hamdi] and daughter Salwa. He is killed later; Ahmed is
accused of the murder and sent to prison for 15 years.

This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster by an unknown artist for the 1963
El-Sayed Ziada film Forgive My Mistake based on a story by Aziz
Armani, screenplay and dialogue by El-Sayed Ziada, cinematography by
Zakaria Mansour and starring Samira Ahmed as Leila. Plot summary:
Hussein Mokhtar [Kamal Al-Shennawi] did not care about marriage until
he fell in love with a poor girl named Leila. Before marrying her he
discovered she was a prostitute. This broke his heart but because of
his love for her he forgave her, even though his mother tried to get
him to end his relationship with her. According to Egyptian film
encyclopedist Mahmoud Qasem this poster is for a rerelease with scenes
deleted and a title change of the 1962 film Take Me and My
Shame [khozni bi 'ari] directed by El Sayed Ziada. In both
versions of the film Samira Ahmed's character is a prostitute.

This an Egyptian 27" x 39" one-sheet poster designed by Amal and
Gasour for the 1981 Mohamed Khan film Dinner Date based on a
story by Mohammed Khan with screenplay and dialogue by Bachir El Dik
and Starring Soad Hosny as Nawal. The film is set in Alexandria
Egypt; Ahmed Zaki plays the part of hairdresser Shokri, who falls in
love with Nawal. Plot summary: Nawal is oppressed by her husband
Ezzat Abul-Rous [Hussein Fahmy]. She catches him with another woman
and demands a divorce on the spot, but he refuses. Nawal despairs and
eventually divorces Ezzat anyway, then Marries Shokri. Ezzat has
Shokri killed to get revenge. Nawal learns of Shokri's death when she
is called to a morgue to identify his corpse. In the final "dinner
date" scene Nawal pretends to be resigned to resuming life with Ezzat,
but she serves poisoned food. Both of them eat it and presumably die,
but the film only shows a sad conversation in which the two seem to
know this is their last meal. Dinner Date was remade in the UK
in 1985 as Claudia (aka Claudia's Story) by Anwar
Kawadri, starring Deborah Raffin.

an unknown artist to promote the 1954 Mahmoud Zulfikar 130-minute
black-and-white film The Good Earth الارض الطيبة based on a story by Mahmoud
Zulfikar with screenplay and dialogue by Youssef Gohar, cinematography
by Victor Antoun and starring Mariam Fakhr Eddine as Saadia. Plot
summary: A simple country girl named Saadia lived on a farm with her
wealthy uncle Ali [Hussein Riad] without realizing she was the
daughter of a wealthy man from a secret marriage. The wealthy man left
his great wealth to his daughter and died. She went to Cairo to
receive her inheritance. Her uncle's wife Bahiga [Zuzu Madi] plotted
with her lover Zaki [Abdel Salam Al Nabulsy] to confiscate the girl's
money with the help of her mother's brother, a poor photographer named
Hussein [Kamal Al-Shennawy]. However the heiress gradually fell in
love with her uncle Hussein, who revealed the details about a
fraudulent court case they were trying to build against her, causing
it to fail. The girl went back to the farm and distributed her
inheritance among the peasants working there, then married her uncle
after realizing he was a good man even if he was poor.

El-Badrawy], but Leila's father died after a long illness and her
mother decided to marry her to her cousin Anwar. Leila refused to go
along with this and remained with Hamdi. A wealthy man named Ahmad
[Imad Hamdi] invited Hamdi to a party at his home to hear Faiza
[Madiha Yousri] sing. They became friends and she fell in love with
him. She tried to disrupt the relationship between Hamdi and Leila and
help him become a famous singer. She asked him to marry her, but he
told her he would not be happy with her. He knew Leila loved him and
that what Faiza had told him about her was not true. Hamdi remained
with Leila and Faiza realized she would have to give up the boy she
loved, so she left him to his happiness.

Soheir Ramzy as Samah based on a story by Ibrahim Al-Wardani with

cinematography by Ali Khair Allah. Plot summary: Samah was working at
a hotel to provide for her family. Love developed between her and
Mamdhouh, [Mahmoud Abdel Aziz] a young man from a wealthy family.
Mamdouh's mother [Zuzu Madi] would not allow them to marry because of
their class differences, but Mamdouh defied her and remained loyal to
Samah. Samah's brother Adel [Salah El-Saadani] died of a severe
illness. Mamdouh was confronting enormous debts and could not marry
Samah even though he loved her; she gave up on him and went abroad to
look for work.

film Honor incident [hadsa sharaf] starring Zubaida Tharwat
based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Youssef Idriss with
cinematography by Ibrahim Saleh. Plot summary: Banat, the prettiest
girl in her village, lived with her brother Farag and his wife. She
worked with him to meet living costs. All the young men in the
village wanted her because of her charm and beauty but none approached
her other than Shaban, who did so despite his mother's objections. He
made a contract to marry her and her brother Farag felt relieved
because his sister had finally settled on somone and was to be
married. A frivolous boy named Gharib appeared and tried to get Banat
by offering to have the local seamstress Zakia make some clothing for
her, but he failed. Shaban noticed Gharib's attention and Banat's
rejection of him; they quarrelled and he had to cancel the marriage
contract. Farag suggested she marry Gharib, but she vehemently
refused. Gharib came across her once in a field and when she saw him
she was horrified and ran away from him screaming. The people in the
village thought he had raped her and they took her to Om George for an
examination to see if she was still a virgin. Her innocence was
proven, but she could no longer live among them so she went to Zakia
the taylor so she could do what the people in the village wanted her
to do so she could submit herself to Gharib.
This is a poster designed by Ahmed Ghanem to promote the 1961
155-minute black-and-white Atef Salem film A Day of My Life
[yom min omri] with cinematography by Abdelhalim Nasr, printed by
Al-Nasr printers of Cairo, starring the late Egyptian singer Abdel
Halim Hafez as Salah. It is based on the 1953 William Wyler
film Roman Holiday. Plot summary: An editor gave the
journalist Salah Shawqi and his colleague the photographer Younes
[Abdel Salam Al Nabulsy] the assignment of covering the arrival of
from Switzerland of Nadia, [Zubaida Tharwat] the daughter of the
millionaire Abu Agila, [Zaki Toleimat] after a long absence. At the
airport Nadia learned her father's wife wanted to marry her to her
brother and she decided to run away. She got on a bus with the
journalists without any of them knowing anything about each other.
Salah and Nadia with Younes and his fiance had a wonderful night at a
nightclub and then she went with him to spend the night at his home.
Younes photographed the two of them together; then the neighbors
realized who Nadia was and pursued her. When the editor learned the
journalist and his colleague had failed at their assignment he
threatened to fire them. Salah discovered the truth about Nadia and
went to the editor with the photographer and the story about what had
happened. Nadia decided to go back to her father, who had decided not
to marry her to a man she did not love. Salah stole the photos and
the papers for the story and prevented the publication of anything
about his beloved. He sent the pictures to Nadia and her father at
the airport. The father understood Salah was a noble man and decided
to marry his daughter to the one she loved.
