This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian poster designed by Morteda Anise for the 1984 Hassan Al Imam film God's World AKA The Honey of Bitter Love based on story by Naguib Mahfouz, screenplay and dialogue by Essam Al-Gomblati and starring Nour El-Sherif as Ibrahim. Plot summary: Ibrahim worked as a company employee. He met an itinerant vendor named Yasmine [Maali Zayed] and liked her. He told her he knew a delivery boy who looked just like the one who had the job of delivering employee salaries. Yasmine's friend Hamuda [Saeed Saleh] told her she should go with Ibrahim, whom he knew to be the delivery agent planning to embezzle the salaries and make a getaway to Alexandria. Ibrahim stole the salaries and went to the port with Yasmine. In Alexandria Yasmine quarreled with him, broke a chair over his head and ran away with the cash. She went to her friend Hamuda and found he had married his old friend Aziza [Essad Youniss]. Hamuda emphasized to Yasmine that the police were looking for her because she had killed Ibrahim. He pretended he would try to hide her and told her she had to leave the cash with him. Yasmine recognized the deception and told the police about her crime, but then she discovered Ibrahim had not died and they had all been arrested after a chase.

This is a 27" by 39" Egyptian one-sheet designed by Gasour for the 1980 Hassan Al Imam film Don't Be Unfair to Women based on story, screenplay and dialogue by Faisal Neda and starring Hanaa Tharwat as Fatma. Plot summary: Fatma worked as a maid in Hamuda's [Sayed El-Sawy] villa. She shot him and turned herself in to the police. During the investigation she refused to give a motive for the killing, but it was also found that Hamuda was shot three times while Fatma had fired only one bullet. Hamuda had gotten Fatma's mother pregnant and then refused to marry her. Hassanein, [Mustafa Metwalli] who had been working at the villa and was tired of fulfilling Hamadu's every whim, was the one who had fired the fatal bullets after Fatma had fired her one shot and left the room. Fatma was found innocent.

Pictured is a 27" x 39" original year Egyptian promotional poster designed by Hassan Mazhar Gasour to promote the 1952 119-minute Mohamed Abdel Gawad black-and-white film The Unlucky One [alil ol-bakht] starring Shadia based on story and dialogue by Zoheir Bakir with cinematography by Very Varkash. Plot summary: Hussein [Kamal Al-Shennawi], the son of Sheikh Abdel Rahman, went to Alexandria to study. There he met a singer and dancer named Bolbola [Shadia]. He fell in love with her and was about to marry her. Bolbola's cousin Elham [Zomorda] met Hussein during a dance and later contrived to meet with him privately, where she discouraged him from marrying Bolbola because she was a girl with a past. She told him some disturbing lies about Bolbola, so for the moment Hussein gave up on her. A little while later Hussein's father lost his wealth and died and Elham became enamored of Hussein's cousin Monir [Mahmoud El-Meliguy]. She failed with this love, which caused her to collapse psychologically. She was taken to a mental hospital and Hussein had no choice but to leave Alexandria for Sudan to forget his pain. Bolbola was shocked by Hussein's trip and drowned herself. Hussein returned to Egypt after a few years with a great longing to see Bolbola. He was heartbroken when he learned she had died; then he met Bolbola's daughter [Shadia] and congratulated her on her engagement when he was told about it.

Plot summary: A dancer named Salwa rebelled against her family in the Ghawazi neighborhood in the city of Sonbat after they tried to make her marry an old man whose wealth they coveted. Salwa fled her hometown and her pushy parents for the city of Cairo. There she met Ahmad, Ruhia, Nabil and Barghuta, who worked at weddings as a band. She joined the team as a musician, but her success bothered Taghrid, the team's traditional singer and also the dancer Helawa, who decided to leave the band. There was a sense of crisis in the band but Salwa tried to make a place for herself and was successful with her songs. The band prepared a big show for presentation in the city's major theaters. Taghrid and Helawa decided to rejoin the band to be in the show, which was an immediate success.

Plot summary: This film portrays one of the most important artistic periods of Egyptian dance, when tens of artists developed performances of Eastern dances. These dancers included Badia Masabni; this film tells her story and how she established the Badia Casino, where she also starred as a dancer. The film also tells the story of the love relationship between Badia and the actor Naguib Rihani and how the two worked together to establish the art of Eastern dance, both as an exhibition art and as a performance component on the comedy stage. Disagreements eventually pulled them apart, leaving Badia burdened with heavy debts and psychological problems. She sold her casino to one of her fellow dancers there, then left Egypt to return to her native Lebanon.
