This is a 23.5" x 35" first printing of an Egyptian poster designed by Mohammad Abdel Aziz to promote the 1946 Abbas Kamel film Personal Double [saheb balin] starring Bechara Wakim based on story, dialogue and screenplay by Abbas Kamel with cinematography by Very Verkash. The poster was printed by Raghaeb Printers and the film was produced and distributed by the Al-Ahram Studio. Plot summary: The wealthy Shuman Pasha discovered that one of the local people resembled him to a great extent. That was the embittered teacher Abbas who lived with his wife Radia. The pasha lived the life of a rich man in a social position with systems and rules in addition to collective responsibilities to the individual. He made an agreement with the teacher Abbas to change roles in life, because Abbas was fed up with poverty and need. Abbas fell in love with the pasha's maid, but everyone rejected that relationship because they were not socially equal. He told them the truth but they denied it and said he was crazy. Shuman Pasha, who had lost his memory, was living the homeless life and could not adapt to a life of poverty. After a few comic incidents the two met and traded places again. Everyone discovered this strange resemblance, which clarified the reason for the change in positions. Abbas married the wealthy man's maid and finally achieved security and social equality.
